i don't see this collection as schizophrenic at all….in fact it all flows together. it all feels very regal and very much a sort of ode to UK traditions. the tartans are my favourite part and i really love that group of red that follows. i know one thing in all she's done so far,she's certainly a chip off her dad's block especially when it comes to textile experimentations but she does bring a more youthful aura to that sense of style.
I was thinking she takes the ideas that Westwood has often used - i.e., riffing on UK/Royal traditions, as Scott mentions - but she makes those her own with this collection. I mean, the cuts/frills/embellishments are very much her own (Westwood, of course, being more about bias cuts, asymmetry etc) but in their allusions I see similarity. Not that this a bad thing; it's great!
