Simone Rocha F/W 2019.20 London

The trick of using 90s models and icons (like Sevigny this time) to get attention is getting old...and I am also seeing lots of Comme des Garçons literal references here...

Anyway, I´ve never been a fan of clothes which make models look like porcelain dolls (I know is Simone Rocha´s signature).

Yes there always has been some cdg in her work. But this is a great collection. I’ve always liked her work, but here it feels more mature, a bit more evil without becoming too fairytale. What’s nice about her is that’s she’s developing slowly, it’s a welcome pace if you compare it to
The astronomic rise and crash of vetements for example.

Highlights of this collection are definitely the play with trench structure in transparent. I feel she should do less dresses for her next shows.

Exactly what I expected - severe calf-length dresses drenched in Amish elements, some layering, with sturdy, practical shoes as if we're in the war. It's her thing, I get it.
Those glitter dresses did intrigue me
