With the exception of those hideously amateur-looking Christian Siriano gowns toward the end, there is a lot here that's idiosyncratic and desirable. I doubt this would be my aesthetic if I were a woman, but it's undeniable that Simone Rocha's clothes have a point of view and one can find fantastic pieces in every collection.
I didn't like this show of hers the first time I opened the thread but now I'm loving it. The sashes and interwoven bands of material are fascinating and her use of prints and color is on point. The jewellry is also very good.
I don't see that much CDG, it's very subtle (just the wedding collection really).. more like Tao meets Charles Anastase but in 2020, so not really a remake but genuine inspiration. The prints in the middle sort of weaken it but everything else is so pretty.. I miss seeing this amount of details in long silhouettes and done confidently without falling into frilly territory (which was my biggest complaint with John Rocha's use of tulle).
Obviously, for those who know this brand, Simone Rocha follows in the wake of Comme des Garçons. Anyway, she has managed to distinguish herself from Rei as a designer with her own point-of-view, thank you very much.
Besides, 90 percent of mainstream fashion in 2020 can only HOPE to be compared to Comme des Garçons in 2005 and 2006.
I really like this collection!! Minus the wedding gowns & some of the more colorful, floral prints.
Otherwise, the amazing detail on these pieces is the perfect balance between the oversized fit & adding something interesting without being too overwhelming....
