i've been curious to try sk-II's whitening pancake. MUA gives it awsm reviews, but it's like eighty dollars and don't want to purchase it if i can find something that works as well for less. i have very red skin, slightly oily, but mostly smooth with no breakouts. what i really want to get rid of is the redness, with a porcelain white look. i have really fair skin, so almost white is the tone i'm going for. are there any other foundations out there that can give me this look? right now i'm using ysl's perfect touch brush foundation and i'm finding it doesn't stay on and i just really don't like it!

Just my two cents about whitening in general: I haven't tried it myself but I have a similar skin situation as yours. I talked to a sales person about SK-II whitening line, and from what I understand, the whitening products generally break down existing pigment in your skin.

Now if you're very pale like me, the redness you want to get rid of is due to thinness of your skin, through which fine veins are easily visible. Obviously, whitening products can't do a thing for redness like that, as it has nothing to do with pigmentation but tiny blood vessels.

Of course you can hide the redness with foundation, and the SK-II foundation can be as good as any. If MUA has good reviews, I'd say go for it. If in doubt, you can always try and ask for a sample first :flower:

there are no retailers for sk-II where i live, so any more information you can give me about this product would be awesome. i don't think my skin is as fair as yours is, because i don't think my redness is caused by visible veins. i think that my skin is just red. not severely so all the time, but enough that it makes me self conscious. i saw a dermotologist to see if maybe it was rosacea or something, but i don't have any blemishes or any real problems with my skin otherwise so she figured it was probably just somethign i would have to deal with. do you think that the whitening pancake would benefit my skin in this case? i've tried almost every foundation out there and i want something that works!
