Hey, what does everyone think of the new trend of wearing smock dresses (in the US, they're called tunics) as casual summer wear? I love it, but I cannot find them anywhere for a reasonavble price. Can anyone help me out (stores, thoughts, etc)?

Here's a little article about this trend from the online UK magazine, Handbag.com:

Those are huge here, and it's nowhere near summer. They are simply worn with thick black tights or footless ditto.

I personally love tunics with empire waists, but now those are so wildly popular that I'm starting to feel I can't wear them without looking like a clone.

Have loved wearing smock dresses and tops, when it is done right it can be such a good look.

aren't smocked dresses, well, smocked?

like the nui dresses?

Well, there's a difference between a smocked dress and a smock dress (it's called a smock dress in the UK, which is similar to a shift-type tunic dress in the US). I found out this difference after extensive shopping and searches on the web (I was confused at first, too.)

P.S: If you type in Nui smock dress into Google, it'll correct you by asking if you meant Nui smocked dress. It's actually pretty funny.

By the way, thanks for this little tidbit of information. I'll look into it. ^_^

oh, and I can add Mango to that list as well! I saw some cute ones there, even some Versace knock offs ^_^

I love that grown up "little girl" look. A mini dress, tights and some killer heels.
