So You Want to Become a Model? (PLEASE READ POST #1 BEFORE POSTING)

Thanks! I'm trying to keep positive with all of this and with my sister going "Just forget about being a model, it's the worst choice to make" and all that, it's really difficult. I just hope the industry won't change my views. I guess we all just have to hang in there! :flower:

Thanks again! It's really encouraging to hear!

i'm 15 and 5'7, but the doctors told my mom i would be 5'11! but I really doubt that I'll keep growing. Your right lolalemon I guess we should just wait it out! But i really wish that i was 5'11. I guess you just always want what you cant have. I read an article about Nicole Kidman whos about 6', and she said that she wished she was 5'2 and curvy!

It is some formula they do or something; the doctors told my parents I would be 6'3" I am 6'1", but I think I have stoped growing. I don't think it anything super accurate; though I may be wrong.

I don't think you can tell how tall you'll be. You can guess, I suppose. My parents guessed I'd be around 6 feet tall. But, I'm 5'10" and I probably stopped growing :(

....when do people stop growing anyway?

Isn't there some kind of test you can do w/your bones or something?

I think they stop growing at different ages but I read somewhere that people think they stop growing but you can actually do things to stimulate your growth again in your 20's.

Does shoe size have anything to do with how tall you'll be? I heard something about that.

It's horrible that my ancestors were all short :( hopefully I can break the curse! lol

I think you're right. They can check your growth paltes somehow. I know my friends little sister broke her arm and the growth plate and they told her her arm would not grow any longer  So I guess they can tell somehow that way?

I know this sounds stupid but, by what do you measure your legs? I've never done it when shopping for pants or anything so I'm clueless at the moment...

For the full leg length, measure from just above the hip bone to the bottom of your foot(flat foot)....and for inseam crotch to foot.

I don't think it does... I know I have the same size feet as Paris Hilton but I'm at least 4 inches taller than her I think. I've seen people who are 5'6" with size 10s and people who are 5'11" with size 7s.

In that case.. I want to go get mine checked!!

Hmm I sent New York Models more pics like they asked for today... I was mad though, because I took the pics right after I washed my face and my camera can only transfer 12 pics at a time so my face was all blotchy and red from scrubbing in the beginning pics and after I loaded the first 12 up I accidently deleted all of the other better ones. Sooo NY Models gets blotchy face pics. At least they will know I didn't cheat on the no makeup rule.

do you live in new york??? [/b]
I live three hours from new york. I'm like an "on call" model. Whenever they need me, I'm there. I just have to know the day before. If its that important, it can be reschedualed.

During exam week last year, I booked a job for what I didn't know at the time was a really really really kick *** Italian mag that would have brought GREAT tears in my book. My booker got really mad at me for not being able to go to this job because I had a final exam in Spanish that day. W/o that exam, I would have not passed 10th grade. I guess you have to have priorities.[/QUOTE]

Hey do you like NY models I am thinking about signing with them??

Oh, ok. It's just that I read something on the Next Models forum about that and was wondering.

I don't know if this is a stupid question, but, what type of doctor do you have to go to? Will a regular doctor be able to check or do you need to go to a specialist? If any doctor should be able to do it, I'm on my way! lol

That's good to hear! Now it's time to beg my parents to go to the doctor's... they'll be full of questions but whatever! lol This is me whining as usual!

Yeah... the thing is that I do believe that a lot of them have super fast metabolisms, but they can't all have them so it's obvious they're not all just naturally skinny.

Alot of height has to do with how steady you grow... if you gain around an inch a year, you might grow an inch a year for eight years! That means a thirteen year old who's 5'2 could easily reach 5'10, if they don't really get spurts.

they also run a lot days long after castings and have more exercices than someone who is on his office chair ..
