Socialite Style

Olivia Palermo is gorgeous and has great style! I frequently see pictures of her in German InStyle.

I find this thread really entertaining. Its interesting to see who is and is not included in this bunch. To clear a few things up...
Lauren Davis is NOT a Poland Spring heiress, nor is she related to the company in any way. Her father owns/owned a distribution company that handled home delivery of Poland Spring bottles (you know, those oversized jugs you can have delivered to your house, and hooked up to those electronic things?). Her background is quite privileged, but she is nowhere near to economic strata of some of these girls. She is basically exclusively wearing Nina Ricci now because her fiancé’s family is very conservative and she’s trying to keep them happy...
There is really not a single true 'blue blood' or American aristocrat in this entire group now, so when people start getting nuanced about who is and is not acceptable I think its hysterical. Tinsley's father ran a rug company and manuevered his daughters into high society, and Fabiola is living off of the profits of her gold digging mother. Its just really funny that when certain girls, who come from pretty similar backgrounds at a base level, try to make it on the scene people are in horror that someone who wasn't born into it is doing so.

^ I think Fabiola is closer to the real deal. She went to good schools in Switzerland. But, no, none of these socials (not really socialites IMO) are up to the level of the ones back in the day. I don't think they're blue blood (even though Tinsley keeps bringing up her relationship to Thomas Jefferson). Still, they are entertaining and interesting to watch!

I don't know why she would bring up Thomas Jefferson because anyone with a basic knowledge of US history would know that he fathered a LOT of children, legitimate and otherwise. There are quite a few families who have connections to him. I agree with all your comments MJcouture.

I remember reading on socialiterank.com (it's long gone now) that olivia palermo was one of those "fake" socialites, she would stage photo ops with the right crowd and reportedly sent a mass email to all the established socialites basically asking them to take her under their wing and be nice to her. When questioned about this she didn't deny it!

I don't believe she sent that e-mail. I mean, why would she? She also had a lawyer working on the case and that's when the whole SR thing blew up.

Yes, the Thomas Jefferson thing is quite funny. There are TONS of people in the US population that are descendents of the founding fathers, but who do not claim it as anything more than interesting. For the most part, these people are part of the middle class. Everyone knows that Tinsley married way up, and there is no great shame in that if they love each other, but for her to try so hard to create any background that is mroe than just an upper middle class girl from Virginia is silly. And then her father comes out and says things like "Tinsley lived in the biggest house in Richmond, I am sick of people saying she comes from nothing," only prooves what her upbringing is even more.

And thanks everyone for the nice feedback to my post!

Does anyone know who does the PR for Tinsley, Zani Gugelman's Santo jewelry line and Geneive Jones? Any help would be much appreciated:)
