Apparently she is performing at IIFA......(and shooting for a cover on an international mag)

Sonam Kapoor will do her first ever show at IIFA in Macau

Sonam Kapoor will be performing for the first time at the International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) at the CotaiArena in The Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.

Debut deal

Informs a source from Wizcraft, the organizers of IIFA, "We have had many stars making their debut performance at IIFA every year. This year Sonam Kapoor has agreed to perform. Last year Hurman Baweja performed while Abhishek peformed for the first time in Amsterdam in his first ever international performance to Kajra Re with Aishwarya and and Amitabh Bachchan. Hrithik did his first international performance with us in Sun City in 2001."

Apprehensive

Sonam Kapoor, who made her debut in Saawariya is currently shooting for the cover of an international magazine in Abu Dhabi confirms, "Initially I was a bit apprehensive about performing as I suffer from terrible stage fright but Abhishek (Bachchan) and Andre (from Wizcraft) convinced me.

I met Abhishek at a radio interview where he persuaded me to sign on. I have never done shows before even though I had many offers as I am terrified of facing a crowd." The actresss will be performing solo, and this will also be her first trip to Macau.

When asked whether the fashionista will be wearing her own clothes or will be dressed by a fashion house for the event, Sonam says, "I haven't decided what outfits I will be wearing as yet. I will take a call on that soon."

Info on her outfit for her IFFA performance and her next film 'Aisha':

Project: Kapoor

I am very choosy about the celebrities I work with. And Sonam is not just beautiful, but carries herself with such grace and style, sys Ayesha Depala.

Saving Bollywood from red carpet disasters may be a mission: impossible, but Ayesha Depala is taking a chance on Sonam Kapoor.

If Dubai-based Indian designer Ayesha Depala had her way, she would give a dozen or more Bollywood beauties a fashion makeover. For the time being, however, she is content to begin her ambitious mission of raising the collective style bar by grooming one of Bollywood's most promising newcomers - Sonam Kapoor.

Depala will be dressing Kapoor in her tasteful creations for the upcoming International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Awards in June in Macau. In an exclusive interview with tabloid!, Depala says the Delhi 6 star and daughter of Anil Kapoor was a perfect find.

"I am very choosy about the celebrities I work with. And Sonam is not just beautiful, but carries herself with such grace and style. She is fresh, she is successful, beautiful and has a long way to go. Her personal style is very appealing too."

A white Grecian chiffon floor-length gown fitted with gold gota (gold foil leaf work) on the bodice is being made for Kapoor's big night. "It's a tube style. I chose the gota work because I wanted to add an ethnic touch.

"Many a times, I have seen Bollywood stars looking ravishing in a Dior or Chanel. But I wanted my gown to appeal to both Western and eastern sensibilities. Why should we run away from an Indian twist?" Depala asks.

The Depala-Kapoor collaboration does not end with the IIFA Awards red carpet outing. Depala, who is patronised by the likes of former supermodel Yasmin Le Bon, has gone a step further. Very soon, Depala will begin work on her first Bollywood movie, titled Ayesha. She will be designing the bulk of the costumes for Sonam Kapoor's on-screen character, also called Ayesha.

"Yes, it is my first Bollywood venture. Here, again, I identified with Sonam's role in the film. The character is a lot like me in real life. She has around 70 looks in the film," says Depala.

In many ways, Depala has struck gold with her first Bollywood tryst, since Ayesha is generating a lot of pre-production buzz. The movie, loosely based on Jane Austen's classic Emma, is even touted as Anil Kapoor's younger daughter Rhea's maiden directorial venture.

"I will be designing both Indian and Western pieces. During my last visit to Mumbai, we discussed the various looks. It's going really well," says Depala.

DID YOU KNOW?

Anil Kapoor is surprisingly sharp when it comes to sizing up his daughter's sartorial tastes. If designer Ayesha Depala's brief association with the Slumdog Millionaire star is anything to go by, he was surprisingly forthright with his daughter Sonam. "He is frank and is unlike most fathers who tend to pamper their children. I met him briefly, but it was interesting to see him give his frank opinion on the clothes that looked good and the ones which didn't," says Depala.

I wonder what magazine she's doing a shoot for? Hope its Bazaar or Vogue India!!
Can't wait to see her IIFA dress. Sounds promising.

I guess Ayesha won't be released until 2010 since they're still in pre-production stages.

I hope the shoot is for either of those magazine, but is Vogue India really considered an international mag?

I have a feeling it may be Harpers, but it's about time she was on Vogue India as well.

The IFFA dress definitely sounds promising, especially when alot of the costumes at these award shows are so OTT and tacky! And i really can't imagine Sonam wearing something like that lol

She starts filming for Aisha in June and then the one with Imran in September...so i wonder if it could release at the end of the year? Also, i wonder what happend to Mona May styling for Aisha....

The IIFA gown sounds promising, and it will be interesting to see her perform.

As for Vogue India, she deserves it.

According to Filmfare's twitter, Sonam will be attending Cannes and maybe wearing something by Chanel!

Cannes begins on May 13th and ends on the 24th, so we'll get pics soon! That's a really pretty pic of Sonam in post #572. I loved her makeup from that night.

Her face looks gorgeous! And the new ad looks stunning, can't wait to see more of them!

The dress looks very Anamika Khanna, and i think the colour really suits her skin tone. Interesting silhouette and choice of shoes though.

Can't wait to see what she wears at Cannes!

Sonam Kapoor stunning blend of beauty and style at L'Oreal party
Posted on Sunday, May 10, 2009 (EST)

L'Oreal India brand ambassador Sonam Kapoor was a stunning blend of beauty and style at a star studded party hosted by the cosmetic brand at Olive, Bandra, Mumbai on Sunday, May 10.

Sonam wore an orange colored, harem pants inspired off shoulder dress accented with beige floral appliqué work in the front. She accessorized with beige peep toe heels with ankle straps, chandelier earrings and a chunky white stone ring in her right hand index finger.

Her hair was left open in a messy look. She wore pale pink lip color, pink blush, black eyeliner and sweeps of mascara.

Others attending the event included Amrita Rao, Ritesh Deshmukh, Karan Johar and Tarun Mansukhani.

After having done artsy films like Saawariya and Dilli 6, both box office failures, Sonam Kapoor is keen to make her mark in commercial cinema but is determined not to get stuck with arm candy roles that largely involve song and dance sequences.

"See, I have never looked down upon hardcore commercial cinema. It's just that I never wish to be an arm candy who does four songs, a couple of scenes and then vanishes away from screen. Those are not at all the kind of roles that excite me," says Sonam.

Sonam will be next seen in her father, Anil Kapoor’s home production, Ayesha directed by Rajshri Ojha with co-stars Abhay Deol and Arunoday Singh.

Interestingly, there is pivotal role in the film – of Sonam’s father – which Anil Kapoor declined to do and Sonam has a charming explanation why.
“Do you really think he looks like my Dad? No! He doesn't. He looks far younger than his age. And that's why I wouldn't want him to play my father. The role in 'Ayesha' that you're mentioning didn't suit him. My dad can't play the conventional father," says Sonam,

Her other upcoming film is Come On Pappu directed by David Dhawan and Rohit Dhawan with co-star Akshay Kumar.
