LFW: Tarun ahiliani sets the ramp on fire

Tarun Tahiliani, in collaboration with denims giant Levi's, put up a fantastic showing on Day Two of the Lakme Fashion Week. The set was straight out of the legendary Studio 54, with disco balls, silver chains and chandeliers hanging from the rafters and blue tinsel as the backdrop. Things kicked off with Nina Manuel sporting the first of six distinct looks -- the Indian Apsara. Meant to emulate dancing goddesses, the creations were all about dark denims with gold detailing, as is obvious from this jewelled chain bra and coated jeans. The four other looks that followed were Midnight Dust (black, crystallised components and hi-sheen denims); Broc Rock (Indian brocades and velvets); the Couture collection (Indian zardozi, a trademark of Tahiliani's); and Treasure Chest (pearls, meshed fabrics, seaweed and jewels). The sixth look, worn by showstopper Sonam Kapoor -- read on to learn more about it!

After four hunky (and topless!) male models took a turn on the ramp, the mood was set for the showstopping entry -- and the sixth, Bridal Denim look!

Pulling off her tuille veil in style, Sonam revealed her gorgeous self in white jewelled chain jeans and a draped panelled top. And the audience loved it.

The designer was all smiles as he took to the ramp with his stunning muse -- at the end of a stunning show, may we add!

Awwww!! She looks so pretty! Thanks for posting these. I can't wait for Dilli 6 to release. I hope she'll attend lots of shows @ fashion week!

She does look very pretty and sweet! Her looks quite different compared to her usual style, but she makes it work :)

Apparently promotions for Dilli 6 will be starting in the next month or so!

If you see Sonam Kapoor walk around with smudged mascara (it's intentional), you'd know she's in love with rockstar Amy Winehouse's bouffant look. She tells Mid Day why she feels like Madonna in Tarun Tahiliani's bejewelled denims

Comfortably seated, flipping through W magazine, actor Sonam Kapoor looked unnerved when we caught her backstage minutes before she went on ramp for Tarun Tahiliani's Levi's show. Despite a bad case of shoe bite gone worse, which declared her to be "shoe-less" or in flats on the runway, she looked calm. This is her second ramp effort after walking for designer Anamika Khanna at India Couture Week, last month.

Even as she shrieked, "I love fashion!" we knew it wasn't just something she'd said. As she spoke frantically about her love for Anne Hathaway's look on the cover of the latest W, on Gwen (Stefani), and how she is awestruck by alt rock artist Amy Winehouse's style, Sonam knew much more than her Diors from Chanels. As we watched her sitting in a Top Shop ganji with an undone bow-tie hanging around her neck loosely, it was evident she knew how not to lose her individualistic streak. "On mag shoots, I am in full control. I let the stylists pick options, but the final call is between the photographer and me. I have to make sure it's me in that picture," says the long-legged lady.

Fashion is very mood-centric for Sawariya actor. "Like today, I have these funky red Ray-Ban Wayfarer sunglasses on; I don't care, I think they're cool. I do what I feel like," she grins. Sonam loves to go crazy with the wardrobe, "If I had to pick a red carpet outfit, Jean Paul Gaultier, Valentino or a Galliano would be outlandish and statement-making," she says, adding, "A TT (Tarun Tahiliani) or Abu-Sandeep saree would be equally stunning."

Sonam's denim tip

High-waisted denims or boot-cuts are safe for the Indian body. Big hips get toned down with this style. Skinny jeans should be left for women with skinny legs and small hips.
