Follow dressed model and creative writer Sophie Ward in Emporio Armani. Fresh from Australian Fashion Week. Sophie has been bound toa hellish schedule of late. Still, she's managed to gradute from her Bachelor of Arts degree. Majoring in English and European Studies, with an impressive high distinction. "I've been commuting between Sydney and Perth for the past few months, and appearing in the David Jones tour. I was flown home every four hours to study for my finals," explains Sophie. "There were so many dealines, but I think it makes you pedal that little bit harder." A self-confessed over-achiever, it seems Sophie likes to put pressure on herself. "I have to, I'm the eldest", she says laughing. There's a certain air about Sophie that seems to suit Emporio, and slipping it on, she suddenly feels "very sophisticated", and there's a particular singlet she loves with embroidered wool stars decorating the straps.
Although a small book project may be soon underway, Sophie is finding inspiration hard to come by as she is expieriencing the upheaval of a recent move to Sydney. "It's a bit hard at the moment to sit down and get 'internal',"she says. With the next year mapped out, it looks as though Sophie will get a well-earned break this winter as her whole familyare set to decamp to a small village in France for a rare holiday, and she might even sqeeze in a writer's retreat in the Blue Mountains. But, with her commitments on the runway and trips to Europe in the diary, it might be hard to find the time. You'll be seeing much more of Sophie Ward.
