I read about this label in Nylon and became intrested..

The clothes look good, but they're no big deal.. love the lookbook though

The lookbook was shot by Cass Bird and it features: Bijou Phillips, Jen Brill, Eleonore Hendricks, Lesley Arfin, Cory Kennedy, Donald Cummings, Nick Ackerman & Wade Oates

i've thought sophmore was a great label from the first glances i got of it a couple months ago. its nothing spectacular but it does its own thing in a good effective manor.

Great label! Jessica Stam's been seen in a lot of their stuff, e.g the peace t-shirt and their " stay gold" tee.

I love the way the clothes are presented, the photos are really beautiful.

I like it , I've seen it in nylon too. What are the prices like I can't remember.

the t-shirts cost around 60 dollars and the sweatshirts around 160$

i agree that the lookbook is nice...
in a very corinne day/david sims kind of way...:P

who is behind this brand?...anyone know?...

*and am i imagining it...
but are those red high waisted shorts by Wrangler?......
the W in the back pocket is the wrangler stitching...
and the brown patch is theirs as well...

i feel like all the bottoms are props...

so do they just do t-shirt/knitwear basically?...

pretty elaborate marketing for a knitwear company...no?

:P

^ Chrissie Miller is behind the company with Madeleine von Froomer (ex-Proenza Schouler). Anyone know what Opening Ceremony carries from Sophomore? Do they have the t-shirts?

^ You can check their stores here.

from their website.
Lower East Side style of the '70s and Lower East style of today look almost the same -people never stray from the basics. Taking a cue from the timeless simplicity of downtown New York, Chrissie Miller's company SOPHOMORE caught the public's eye with a single T-shirt design in 2003. She iniatially planned to make shirts exclusively for her friends, but the overnight success of her design and the attention SOPHOMORE receibed from celebrities, retailers, and the press inspired Miller to think big.

Joining forces with designer Madeleine von Foomer, who most recently worked for Proenza Schouler, SOPHOMORE has expanded its offerings from a single T-shirt to a full collection of contemporary sportswear. The new line of tank tops, T-shirts, sweatshirts, dresses, leggings, and jackets never stray from SOPHOMORE'S classic inspiration. In a one dimensional world of basics, SOPHOMORE brings a fashion twist, soft washed fabrics, perfect fits and a New York vibe that will make the line a clothing staple for years to come.

It seems like a nice collection of basic pieces, sort of reminds me of AA. The lookbook's pretty cool, i love the feeling the pictures give.

You're not imagining it.. That was my first thought too
I do believe that they focus on tops and dresses, no bottoms.. so the red shorts are probably wrangler (or else they should consider to sue since it's veery much like it)

Cheers for the link Andrea.

I love the look of the pieces, but unlike everyone else, I don't like the lookbook. I feel the LA Hipster faces overshadow the pieces. I'd rather no-names were in it though I understand the idea of using your friends and have it have that vibe.

i think that the majority of people in the lookbook are from New York City. Cory Kennedy is from LA but all the rest are seemingly New Yorkers.

Love the lookbook, the newer A/W 08 one up on the website is good too, although without the kind of nyc vibe the summer one has. still worth a look though i think!

does anyone know of any london stockists? (even though I guess I could probably just take myself down to american apparel, they still are great clothes).
