One of the biggest fashion weeks in Africa. Really love their ethnic chic:flower:

Thanks for posting that.:flower:There are a few things I like, though they are not really innovative.A lot of it is very in-your-face...to put it mildly. All for a good show,I suppose.

I got a good laugh out of "Dior Se Moer" .

And I really don't like it when South African designers make these totally self-conscious and over-the-top attempts at being "ethnic".

tru they overdo the ethnic look but South Africans love it. Even when they are wearing non ethnic clothes they still add ethnic accessories.

i love the ethnic twists..
the fourth from the bottom reminds me of paris hilton. but with an ethnic twist. not my kind of style but cool nonetheless.
am in love with that green dress!

I am proudly South African ... so support and RESPECT !!!

The "Dior Se Moer" shirt cracks me up !!

The only reason all the looks are so ethnic, is because we are in SS 05 right now, and the last fashion week was for this season, so obviously the looks are sort of boho, ethnic, African feel. South Africans put their own spin on the way things are worn ... it's much more street than ethnic.

At first I thought this was San Antonio Fashion week and I was ready to  ... not another one.. but South Africa.. sounds pretty cool.. nothing extraordinary but I like the patchwork trench in post 3

ummm.. i kinda feel silly but i have no idea what "dior se moer" means..

"Moer" means "murder" in Afrikaans or Dutch, if you prefer

Not exactly..."moer" can mean anything from coffee-grounds,nuts and bolts,to beating someone up.

In the context here, though,it is really just an untranslatable generic swear word, without expressing an intention to do anything to Dior:lol: .the T-shirt is the equivalent of the Marc Who? T shirts, but funnier.

In the old South Africa it just wasn't ever done to use crude language in public, and South Africans still rejoice in using their very own home grown swear words as often and as ironically as they please.

the joke is definitely lost on non-South Africans, though.

^^^couldnt have said it better myself. Have you been to South Africa??

Are there any more Fashion Week pictures .. I'd especially like to see Craig Native, Stoned Cherrie and Amanda Laird Cherry.

^^^ I am South African, but I have lived overseas for nearly 5 years now.

I was going to ask who the hot designers there are at the moment; I don't really have an idea.I'd heard of Craig Native and Stoned Cherrie, but furthermore I only remember really old ones like Marianne Fassler and Errol Arendz,etc....

Thank you very much Urban Styling:flower: .SA fashion has definitely come a long way from the colonial "chic" of the old days. They have their own identity, but do have some global appeal.Apart from the aforementioned occasional overindulgences on the ethnic side.:)

South Africa (well i only know Cape Town) has really vibrant street style too.
