Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows of any really hip and cool, cutting-edge "specialty stores". Lately, I have been intrigued to shop at these type stores. The selection is so much better than big name Department Stores like Saks 5th Avenue and Neiman Marcus.

Does anyone know of any new stores of this kind or maybe ones that have gone by unnoticed. And also what kind of selection of designers do they carry. Of course everyone knows about Maxfield's in Los Angeles and Fred Segal in Santa Monica.

I've been to both, and I know that a couple of seasons ago, Maxfield's was stocking made-to-measure orders for Dior Haute Couture. (Crazy I know-- I thought it was only available in Paris during couture shows)

They also carried the exclusive Carpe Diem and L'Maltieri labels. And across the street is their sister store Chrome Hearts, which have also branched out to Malibu and Las Vegas.
But, anywho, here are a couple stores of whom which I know of.

Ultimo- Chicago
Hirshleifer's- Manhasset
Jefferey's- Atlanta
Maxfrield's- Los Angeles
Fred Segal- Santa Monica
Aloha Rag- Honolulu
Fetnah Blake- Laguna Beach
A'marees- Newport Beach

i think you need to specify menswear here....since that seems to be what you are looking for...;)

anywhere in the world or in a specific country, city or state?...

Menswear or Womenswear. I buy special pieces sometimes and sell them later on eBay or trade with my friends. But primarily I'm looking for specialty shops in the US and Canada.

here's another one I forgot-

Mario's in Portland

Dont forget Jeffrey NYC, Atelier NYC...I know there are more...IF NYC...

Thanks.... I knew that NYC had a Jefferey's outpost. Atelier I am not too familiar with. Has anyone ever heard of Madison et Cie or Mameg in L.A.? Do you know what designers they carry.

maybe have a look at luckymag.com

they have a commprehensive shopping list there...:flower:

I'm alittle confused by what you mean by 'specialty'?

I'v never been but I think madison et cie is vintage or vintage and deisgner.

Mameg sells deisgners like Haider Ackerman, Bernhard Willhelm, Cosmic Wonder and Unholy Matrimony.

Opening Ceremony in NYC ( and LA soon) is very specialty I would think. Also Seven in NYC, and South Willard in LA. 06+ is a new store in downtown LA which seems very interesting. Of corse there is Colette in Paris and Pineal Eye and Dover Street Market in London.

MicMacBis in Chevy Chase MD carries Yohji, Comme, Watanabe, Final Homme and Rick Owens.

South Willard, that sounds interesting. I'll make sure to check it out next time I'm in L.A.

Do you know the cross streets?
