I'm quite pleased that you did that. I myself had a similar experience at the mall. I sat down to eat at the food court, and I noticed this homeless man going from table to table checking out for left overs, and then sat down to eat someones left over KFC. I felt terrible so I bought him dinner.

I myself do alot of community service for local churches and food banks. I enjoy it alot. It's a time where I can contribute back to the community. I feel that as a society we must all come together and help our fellow human kind, whether it be providing food, money, or shelter, we as humans are obligated to reach out to others. Atleast that is how I feel.

Your post was refreshing considering many people don't acknowledge the unfortunate, and for you to do what you did is quite honorable. I personaly thank you for doing that service.

we just started getting starbucks now where we live but its way to confusing for me to order hehe i dont carry around coffee but theres nothing i love more then having a good coffee from either gloria jeans or Mc Cafe ( mcdonalds cafe ) and talking to my friends- its alot cheaper then other things to do like going out for a big meal.

We're regulars at my gloria jeans and the girls know us and never get angry that we sit there for an hour drinking coffee talking.

I love the fact that people see coffee as an accessory and i dont understand why people care so much that people carry around coffee. Is it that big of a deal? I just dont think its worth getting so upset about when there are things that are so much more worth worrying about.

For me, it's definitely not an accessory. Coffee is a necessity for me but like so many of you guys here, I only get Starbucks because of the convenience. However, I never take out ... I'm too much of a klutz to risk carry a swishing paper cup of hot coffee everywhere!

It never occurred to me that people get beverages from starbucks so that they can have the cup as an accessory. Where I'm from, there's one on every corner, and I just assume that people go there out of convienence; that's the reason I go there. I do think the coffee sucks (way too bitter) but I'll drink a latte or cappuccino (sp?). There are are other coffee shops not too far from my home, but if I'm not near my home and I want a warm drink to sip on, I'm going to starbucks, because the alternative is what? Gas station coffee? I do however, refuse to order using their "lingo" (i.e., tall, grande); I just say small, medium or large, and surprisingly, the employees always understand what I want and have never corrected me. I think that they secretly hate the tall/grande/venti crap too.

Well huh, I find that funny that many of you mention "real coffe" i.e. expresso as the chic alternative to starbucks coffee...
I'm French, I live in Paris, hate bitter coffee that I find highly boring, not mentionning the taste, and I don't really appreciate those cafés where you're sitting on an uncomfortable chair, wait for ages to have the waiter take your order and have him giving you bad looks if you stay too long after you've finished your drink. So to me, the growing number of Starbucks that are opening in Paris are a more than welcome alternative. It's just a nice, comfortable place where I can read a book drinking a delicious Chai Tea Latte...
But I guess that if you live in America, expressos and cafés are "different and original" compared to Starbucks while it would be the opposite in Europe (I have a friend who's Canadian : he can't stand starbucks and he's fascinated by our cafés, blah).

in italy, vending machine coffee kicks the *** of any coffee served in restaurants in france or the US.

Personally I like Starbucks because their white mocha is made with white syrup. Brewhaha, another local coffee place uses powder in their drinks.

This a little late, but I used to work at Starbucks, and the mocha syrup is actually made from a big bag of powder mixed with boiling water... sorry to burst your bubble!

when i said french coffee, i meant coffee served in france.

and no, i dont believe coffee in france is the same as in italy. every country makes its interpretation of italian coffee, espresso or cappuccino. ive lived long enough in italy to be able to tell the difference.

^^yes... How passionate we all get when it's about our coffee... It even got me all fired up.. ... So apologies all around if anybody found my post disrespectful in any ways...
I have always prefered coffee from small cafe's or my owen "bodum" made coffee at home... and If I should call it an "accesorie", then it's only because coffee is something I love and treasure in my life...
One thing I have to admit, I can't walk with a cup of coffee in my hand... I will spill it..

I'm a starbucks person. But I completely disagree that the Olsens started this whole thing. I'm a couple of years older than them so I started uni earlier and I used to drink coffee to keep me awake in lectures. And yeah, I do feel kile I'm missing something without it. But that's just what happens when you get used to something.
