Stars Who Died Too Young

Gram Parsons!!! Although, there are better tracks than the Grievous Angel...

John Coltrane was an annoying pr*t who invented the 'talk about your drugs problem' genre, Kurt Cobain is just annoying and neither deserve a mention.

I can't believe Ian Curtis isn't on the list. It's a crime. Nick Drake.

Prince, they were both much more than that, especially Coltrane.

I don't see Michael Hutchence (INXS) there...

INXS is listed.

I just realized that Jim Croce isn't there!

Prince, I hope that someday you will be able to appreciate the work of these two geniuses. I am curious to know what you mean about Coltrane "talking about * drug problems", I listen to a lot of Coltrane and don't see what you mean. He had drug problems, yes, but I don't find them in his music.

Anyway, the list goes on, why no mention of:

Brian Jones (Rolling Stones)
Keith Moon (The Who)
Clifford Brown (brilliant jazz trumpeter)
Jacob Miller (reggae singer)
Peter Tosh

and for those who think that 50 is too young to die,

Joe Strummer (the Clash)

And countless others...

Maybe the rights to their music didn't include a $0.99/track option... :innocent:

Michael Hutchence, indeed... that story is so sad, I've always loved INXS.

Otis Redding... he died a week before "Sittin' On the Dock of the Bay" was released. So sad, and he had so many other great sounds (Try a Little Tenderness, Love Man, etc.)

At least they're not calling it a definitive list. Because also noticeably missing are :

Phil Lynott (Thin Lizzy)
Freddie Mercury
John Lennon
Elvis... :ninja:

Tami Terrell - died of cancer at age 25 (she sang with Marvin Gaye in the 60s; some of their hits were "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "You're All I Need to Get By")

Minnie Riperton - died of cancer at age 32 (her biggest hit was "Lovin You")

kurt cobain wouldn't be the way he is if he hadn't died young. if he was still alive, he'd just be another old guy trying to be cool.

lol, she may of been more of an actress then a singer, but what about Marilyn Monroe? She'll forever be young. Sometimes I wish something would happen to me a day before I turn 30 so that I'll be forever beautiful and young just like her. :)

but Marilyn died when she was 36? Why a day before 30? 30 is the new 20 you know and you are still young after 30.

If Tupac had have lived, he'd probably be still going strong, and making more movies like his good friend Snoop Dog, who seems to be gaining some real respect these days, for a gangsta. B)

It's so darn sad to see them go, when they leave so much behind. They work, work and work to get ahead and make a name just to die suddenly leaving others people reap the benifits.

Another one who died young was that famous Russian Gold Medal figure skater, Sergey Grinkov, that was sad, especially for his wife. Also, Nickie Taylor's younger sister Krissy. Not singers but famous and died young.

did you ever see the movie Savannah, Smiles? Well the little girl who played Savannah died in her teens, do too drugs. Also, that reminds me of the famous p*rn star Savannah, who took her own life in her 20's.

Here is a really addictive (well to me but I'm weird) site where they list every famous person ever that died and show a picture of there grave. When I first found this site, I didn't leave it for a week straight and read every famous death.

Well, I still feel that Coltrane was hyped for all that drugs stuff. Bix Beiderbecke would have been a much worthier jazzman nomination for died-too-young IMO.
