I don't think it's true, and I hope it's not anyway. For the time being, I can't picture Armani without Giorgio. And if it IS true, would Pilati be designing both the men's and women's lines? Ugh! His last men's collection for YSL was a disaster...

i think that's true,we've already discussed it in 'Karl Lagerfeld to leave Chanel' thread!
But I'd love that idea,Hedi at YSL, Pilati at Armani would be really great!

I actually like what Pilati is doing at YSL...

I nearly had a heart-attack when I saw this in the latest threads until I saw the questionmark and realised it was in "Rumour has it..." I thought it had finally been confirmed!

It's interesting with Pilati....I don't dislike him but compared to YSL himself he does not seem as complex as a person. Not as truly troubled, not as intense. He seems like he would fit better at Armani from a temperamental perspective.

I hope its true. I haven't really liked a single collection since fw08. I wonder who will replace him... G.Valli would be great!

I hope it's true, for sake of YSL. His collections for the label the last couple years have been quite sad.

To be honest, I don't care which way it would go. I like Pilati at YSL, but at the same time another round of fashion switches would be interesting.

Any more news on wether its true or not? I hope not, because I just love Armani's collections and don't want them to suddenly become bad (not saying Stefano hasn't done a good job at YSL but they are different designers who like different things).

whoa i'm imagining the possibilities! :woot: it feels like hedi's been away forever and i would love to see him come back.
and there sure would be plenty of hype if he were hired.

Stefano's work for YSL is amazing. I can't picture anyone else designing for the brand. I like Armani's current work, but I feel as though he lacks a distinct aesthetic identification. Stefano could definitely bring that to the brand, but I wouldn't want to see him leave YSL.

Theyskens for YSL is literally the worst idea ever. His vision, as much as I adore it, is far too whimsical for the Saint-Laurent legacy. He would destroy it with his fantasy. Lanvin is a much better fit for him.

Raf Simons is another terrible idea. Hedi Slimane, whilst in theory a very provocative thought, would also ruin the Saint-Laurent legacy. He is far too trendy and in touch with being 'cool' to design timeless clothing (if that makes sense).

Totaly agree on Theysken, he is a great designer,, but he doesn't have the Saint Laurent thing,,,,
Hedi would be great but after 3 years from now -at least to make YSL image more stable as Stefano would complete 10 years ,-,, Hedi & Alber were chosen by the master him self to carry over after him on the ready to wear & the men line so both of them would be naturaly great.

i think decarnin at ysl is one of the most perverted and wrong ideas ever conceived. i'm also happy that - as it seems - stefano signed for more 3 years. i don't care what the press say, i love his work.
