I am in Boston and I am looking for a style consultant who is able to help me find my personal style and mix & match the pieces in my closet. Does anybody know a good person in Boston?

Thank you very much!^_^

Although I'm not familiar with personal shoppers in Boston, you might want to either a) ask the sales associates at your favorite boutiques/stores (they'll know who’s good), b) friends/family living in the area who have personal shoppers, c) call around and interview shoppers if all else fails :flower:

You know as much as I like personal stylist as much as i dislike the idea of having one...I think you can be your own stylist...just try to be more risky and adventrous...look through magazines...think outside the box...dont go for plain and you'll create your own style...Infact my cousin is infront of me and if i tell you what she is wearing you wont beleive me...she is wearing Nike sports pants in grey , Pink tank top and Marc Jacobs Denim jacket...and Jimmy Choo metallic silver slippers...I thought it was funky...and creative...and trust me a couple of years ago i would have suggested a stylist for her...But now she could work as one!!!lol

my sis is my ''personal stylist'' lol
more in the sense that we enjoy shopping together, and she'd tell me if I pick something cr!ppy, and she'd make me try on stuff I would'nt have given a second look
:)

Good luck finding one, dont know any, but if not try asking your best friend/family member to go shopping with you, after charging on a nice ice cream while flipping a girl magazine together for inspiration :)

Thank you Hipkitten, Culcisima, and Tulip!
Yes I do subscribe lots of magazines and got lots of inspiration from them. The whole reason for me to ask for help was due to an unhappy experience. I bought a Marc Jacobs flower skirt in aqua in their sale, and tried different tops to match. I posted the pictures in another forum and lots of people HATE it (one even said that an Express onsale skirt is better than my MJ  ). I admit that it was the wrong forum to post because most of the viewers are AF/AE/express styles and they are not into designer stuff...but my ego was absolutely hurt
I went to Saks and the SA helped me find a Prada white blouse to match and it worked perfectly :) I want a style consultant since then. I'm trying to educate myself through all the resources I have and this forum is a great place to be. At the same time I am not lucky enough to have family members living close to me :p
Oh well, again thanks for the suggestions :)

heres an idea.
we will be your stylist :p

theres a "what to wear it with" thread and you can post pictures of your items there if you are unsure about how to wear them.

or you can probably creat your own thread..

something like "be my stylist" and describe your style/age/body type/trends & looks you are into/budget/etc. tons of ppl will help :)

I found that people here are very fashionable and nice. Yeah I'll definitely do that:D Thanks

What do you think about style consulting & personal shopping?

More and more people talk about someone supporting them to choose the right style and clothing. Do you have any experience with such services or would you give it a try?

^I'm a personal shopper at large clothing store and I've noticed most of my clients know their style, they just don't have time to put it all together. . . which is where I come in. However, not everyone knows their style or they don't have the time to really put forth the effort to truly work at it. I find it to be a very rewarding job, espeically when women come in with low self-esteem and I show them how to work with what they have and play down what they dont. You'd be amazed as to how many people don't know what works for them!

@Caffeine
I can´t recommend one but I´m sure you can find several by google & co. To make sure they can really satisfy your demand you may ask them previously and let them know your aim. The difficulty is to create a concept that fits you not just to put you into anything that looks good. They should respect your personal preferences anyway.

thanks for the ideas guys! apparently that was posted 3 years ago.
Now I'm in NYC and I never had one...I just worked harder and became my own stylist.
One day though, when I'm getting even busier with work I'll probably need one. :p

^ Seems like it would take some of the fun out of it though ;) I love that I found those great shoes, that great bag, or whatever ...
