Run, LOLA, Run
I ain't talking about Franka Potente here.
This is LOLA New York, a skate culture brand born out of events in the early 90s, when a group of pre-teens fought to have their own space to skate in a vacant lot known as Lola Prentice Memorial Park. These ragamuffin kids won their case and built their park out of make shift (and stolen) materials, self-governing until the late 90s, when the fuzz moved in due to noise racket, shuttered the area and, in an ultimate act of malice, built a police station right on top of that very lot.
Years later, the original Lola kids got together to form LOLA New York, blending their shared interests in music, art, fashion, design, parties and friendship. Key members include Annabelle Jones (l'il sis to DJs Samantha and Mark Ronson, as well as designer Charlotte Ronson), Alex Young from the band Gym Class Heroes (he's a LOLA co-founder, too) and model Suzanne Diaz (who pranced down Ralph Lauren's catwalk this season), among others.
They've got some pretty rad-looking hoodies, sweatshirts, zip-ups and tees that'll be perfect for bundling under as the fall season rolls into our respective hoods. You can check it all out -- including line sheets -- on their site, as well as browse the blog and picture gallery.
The Lola crew is back and bigger than ever.
