Enjoyed this issue. 160 pages. The editor tried to make some lame analogy about how Dua is so refreshing because nowadays pop stars are also models, designers, stylists and that's so novel. Of course forgetting that Jennifer Lopez was both a pop star and a businesswoman way back. Rest of the content includes some beautifully written design pieces, an article about 'Bay Gays' - film and tv characters portraying gay characters as villains and they reference Ryan Murphy's upcoming Capote series, and The Talented Mr Ripley remake. But thankfully there's a reference to Vito Russo's epic book, the Celluloid Closet which formed the cornerstone of a scholarly take on homophobia in film. Plus there's a story about Black contemporary artists who insist that galleries only sell their work to Black collectors/clients and although NYT tried to get a different opinion it pretty much comes down to 'is what it is'.
