Tatler August 2022 : Nicola Peltz Beckham by Ellen von Unwerth

WOW, love it... What a surprise, somehow reminded me of M&M's work for Vogue US!

Just received my subscription copy, it's 128 pgs, no supplement this month. Tatler feels like the entirely natural home for the cover girl, where she can dress up and talk about the importance of hard work, there's an Orlando-themed fashion editorial, 'Chic in Woolf's Clothing', a look at whether the Gettys are 'creative or cursed', the 'social eden' of Northamptonshire, and the travel section is about the Thames. All in all, when contrasted with other titles, this is another glorious dose of no-expense-spared gaudiness.

Next in my pile is World of Interiors and Vogue, although I've had to wait that long for the latter, it seems like old news by now.

I've been enjoying World of Interiors, even as many predicted it would dramatically go downhill under Hamish. One of the magazines I most anticipate every month. Plus it looks like they're starting to create video content as well, starting a series called "Visitor's Book" on YouTube. It's really well filmed and enjoyable, though unfortunately it's absolutely flopping in terms of views.

I'll wager there are plenty of changes they would like to make, but we might not see them for a while. They can't make them too quickly because they'll alienate their traditional audience before they've successfully attracted their new targets.

The worst thing I can say about WoI is how the issues take up space like no other magazine can. I'll be forced out of my own home by a million pages featuring other people's houses.

Ellen should come back to film. Her photography is just awful these days.

Couldn't care less about about Nicola Peltz Beckham or her husband but I'm inclined to like this because the glamour is just oozing from those photographs. Tatler always does glamour so well and the team certainly didn't skimp on the glam this month!
