Tess Giberson S/s 2005

M-O-M,did you see Julie Gilhart? There's a picture of her on Getty in addition to these,of her looking quite enthusiastic. She's such a huge supporter of Tess.

You're welcome Softie. I wish I could have seen this in person myself. I would have applauded everything and gave a standing ovation at the end..

I actually didn't see her and I was unaware of her support for Tess. Like I said, it was poorly attended. Alix Browne was there, Godfrey Deeny, Sarah Lerfel from Colette, hmm. . . a few others that I can't remember. Too bad because the show was much better than Zac Posen or DVF which are notoriously hard to get into.

It is a bit disheartnening but I'm certain she's appreciative to that kind of support than the lot that sometimes attends those other shows. And no clueless celebs....that should be a dream world..

But I do bet there were a few Japanese buyers in attendance. And Sarah bought up her stuff for Colette the last two seasons,I believe. So that's a tremendous upside,I would assume.

my fave look from this collection...
i saw some very cute looks and few that i didnt like at all,
i'm sure Sarah ordered few pieces for Colette,
but somehow i was expecting more from Tess this season :ninja:

a bit disapointed really :(

I like the second picture and the "kate bush wedding dress".

thanks Scott, it's beautiful.

Oh is this the invite? That's really personable. I love it when designers do really creative things with the invites. I mean,it is supposed to be inviting but you don't see it too often.

Her niche for hand work is really touching. Those backstage shots with everything a bit closer is very evident of her craft.

the kate bush dress is my favourite look from this collection, too. absolutely gorgeous. I also love the dress in the first picture posted. I like just about everything... to me it is very pure and pretty... modern but not harsh imo.

No, that's not this season's invite. It was a big folded poster with a patchwork quilt.

Would I be asking too much,if either you or Soft can digicam a picture? I'd love to see that! That is if you can. :flower:

It'll have to be Soft. I, stupidly, threw mine out after the show. I didn't have a bag with me and had too much stuff to carry. Sorry! :flower:

Giving the collection a second look I love it even more. The first two looks are great, just dreamy simply-detailed pieces. The hair is very nymph-like and lovely make-up.

I think its amazing that...wow, people seem to really be responding favourably to these looks that I found lacked a real sense of energy of personality. It was austere and skilled but...joyless. Is it perhaps because the clothes seem almost like a blank canvas in which you have no choice but to stick out and shine through because there's practically nothing there? They are not pretentious, they certainly are real fashion with sparks of real imagination in some cases but...they don't seem very optimistic...I mean, Kate Bush! What a wonderful, genius, experiemental, off the wall, vibrant, dangerous artist! No connection there, certainly.

I don't know guys, I can't bring myself to say that I liked it a lot, just like I can't say that I like Veronique Branquinho's work a lot - although I see a piece here and there that I like. There were some nice pieces, but I'm feeling unimpressed overall. Maybe if I saw it in person I'd like it better. Who carries her stuff in NYC?

The picture before the last one was my favorite look.

Barney's and ISA in Brooklyn are the only two that's listed in New York from her web site. She used to be carried at Seven but no longer apparently.

Well Faust,I'll admit myself, that despite how much I like this one,its not quite as stupendous as her previous Autumn collection. And her earlier collections(from 02-S/S 03)-looking at her work overall-were the best collections she ever did. Too bad those didn't get alot of attention.

Datura, you should check her web site out and look at her earlier works. Like the collection she did when she collborated with her husband, artist Jon Widman. Imagination galore in those. And the clothes were exceptionally beautiful and inspiring.
