The ‘2020 Golden Globe Awards’ Thread

Don't love JLo but don't hate it either. It's the Globes. She's JLo. She's nominated. Glad she went for it. I do hate the hair though.

I know it's kind of a boring dress on Jen Aniston but I would have loved it had she done something with the hair. A chic bun would've made the look.

Charlize Theron looks awful. I don't think I've loved her look in a decade. I don't know what's happens to her.

Kinda dig Scarlett.

I'm embarrassed for Kerry Washington. So desperate.

Zoe Kravitz looks fun.

Cate Blanchett. Just no. I'm all for trying something different but that's a no. Especially that hair. Yikes.

Gwyneth's look reminds me of her iconic see-through look from the Oscars like 15 years ago. But, considering all the barely there and see-through dresses we get these days, it doesn't have the same shock value.

The rest are yawn.

That's it? Wow. Definitely not a terrible red carpet, and I really like that everyone looks 'different' this year and not part of a club, but it's very hit or miss. Way too much Dior! Kerry looks immaculately styled, but not mad about her look. Lopez, Aniston, and Taylor looks very generic, so does Renee despite that gorgeous colour. I haven't seen a single look that I can fully endorse so far. Yikes.

Kudos to Nicolas for surprising me though. Michelle looks....ok.

I simply can't understand why everyone loves Karla Welch so much!

Men's looks (nothing to write home about:(

Best dressed: Zoe Kravitz

Other looks I liked: Margot, Zoey Deutch, Joey King, Ana de Armas, Cynthia Erivo

Worst dressed: Gwyneth and Jlo.

I kind of like Rami's look. It's certainly nothing special, but he can pull off Saint Laurent better than most.

In other news, Joaquin Phoenix was absolutely hammered on stage, but I loved how he called out all the oh-so-eco celebs using private jets three times a week.

Correction, Nick Jonas is apparently in Prada, now Versace.

So many terrible looks all around. I do love Billy Porter's look though!

Gwyneth's was my favorite of the night because that is exactly what I expect from my celebrities: to be trashy, fun and excessive. She is practically naked and dripping in jewels and gives zero f*cks. I don't care about celebrities being "relatable", down to earth and safe; I want them to wear everything I can't afford to wear, financially and occasion-wise.

I think that's part of why celebrity (and fashion) has lost so much appeal - at least for me. This whole thing of making everything relatable, accessible, democratic, conscientious, sensible, reachable, etc, etc has lead to a loss of magic. There's no fantasy element anymore. Everything is so dull.

I blame twitter for all of this. It truly is the devil.

To be honest, I liked it as well and mostly for the reasons you stated. It just so happens that most of the risky looks that night were my favourites - Cate and Jodie being the other two. Bravo to Mary Katrantzou.
