The Emmys are typically just a couple notches above the Grammys as far as fashion goes. The difference is that you usually see crazy-ugly at the latter and boring-ugly at the first. These TV people just can't put on a show-stopping appearance.
There were some, though, that stood out above the rest (relative as it may be).
Rose Byrne - that CK was absolutely gorgeous. So chic and clean. Then she has to go and mess up the look with that tortured hairdo.
Taylor Schilling - I'm not familiar with her red carpet style, but if this is a taste of what's to come, I hope she sticks around. Loved the dress. The hair looked cheap and over worked.
Elizabeth Moss - unlike the first two, she NAILED the hair. The best hair/makeup she's ever spotted. The dress was good, for her.
Amy Pohler - I don't usually associate her with looking chic, but I thought she was just that.
Kiernan Shipka - pretty, cool, age-appropriate and she looked stunning in it.
Honorable Mentions: Robin Wright and Michelle Dockery
AND NOW THE ABSOLUTE WORST
Anna Faris - guuurl, what's going on with you? The dress was ok, but my world, that hair and makeup was tragic. She looked so sad on stage next to that foxy Allison Janney who's nearly 20 year older.
Amanda Peet - sad, dowdy, frumpy, ugly... What else? Those bangs really took it to a whole new level. I usually expect more from her.
Lena Dunham - ok, ok, we get it, you're a hipster. Her grandma needs to look in her living room, chances are she's missing her couch. Or drapes.
January Jones - remember that glorious Versace look January had a few years back? Sexy, showstopping, chic, beautiful. This was the complete opposite. In the worst possible sense.
BONUS: It's not your dress
Zosia Mamet - loved the gown. It was interesting, pretty and cool. Unfortunately, Zosia was completely overpowered by it. The dress needed someone who could carry it.
Kate Mara - chic dress. Don't usually see those at the Emmys. But it's completely unflattering on Kate. The bodice especially.
