The Avengers (2012)

Hot Toys has a line of collective figurines based on the movie, the likeness is the best I´ve seen in all my years as a collector... I´m drooling over here :o

^hehe that was nice. thanks Alvie!
now I want to eat shawarma :P

I saw this movie today. It was sooo good! Action-packed and some good funny moments too! It was, for lack of a better word, AWESOME! :woot:

Those collective figures are insane! the likeness, so well done.

I loved the film, actually looking forward to watching it again. When Hulk thrashed Loki around everyone in my theater applauded. I also loved when Stark called Hawkeye Legolas. All the actors were amazing. I like that the film had a lot of laughs and great jokes.

Was it just me or does anyone else think the first half of the film showed a lot of Chris Evan's assets? :brows:

was this scene cut from the movie? maybe i just blinked at the wrong moment, but i can't remember seeing it

^it´s after he walks down the stairs, that´s a security guy.

yeah, that scene was in the movie.

it just opened 2 days ago over here, watched it last night and LOVED IT. LOVED IT. i thought it might be good, but i didn't think it was going to be this much fun and action.
what i liked the most is how they widened Loki's character (it was actually refreshing to see that there was some effort and thought put in the actual villain, i haven't seen that in ages, tbh) in a way that he's not just your "i'm here to rule you all. you're stupid. i'm gonna kill every single one of you. buahahahaha", but more of the layering, both dramatic (his story) and funny (to warm you up a bit and for a sec). ruffalo was so cool. RDJ is RDJ, nothing more needs to be said. i like how they put captain and thor as these two dummies opposed to the first two geniuses. it was nicely put and not overboard on both sides. scarlett was very good too, loved her stunts.

anyhow, great great great movie. :)

Joss Whedon's The Avengers has set a new bar in opening to a walloping $200.3 million at the domestic box office, the largest debut ever and kicking of summer 2012 in high style.

The Avengers -- marking a major victory for Disney and Marvel Studios -- easily dethroned Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2, which opened to $169.2 million last summer, then the largest number in history.

Overseas, where Avengers opened a week ago, the tentpole has now earned $441.5 million for a stunning worldwide total of $641.8 million -- already surpassing the lifetime totals of Captain America: The First Avenger ($364 million), Thor ($449 million), Iron Man ($585 million) and Iron Man 2 ($624 million).

The 3D tentpole is now positioned to reach $1 billion in global grosses.

Among other records, Avengers is the first film in history to cross $200 million in only three days of play at the domestic box office. It also scored the biggest Saturday gross of all time in earning $69.7 million.

"It's been a fantastic weekend on every single front," Disney executive vice president of distribution Dave Hollis said.

Hollis said the slim 13 percent drop from Friday to Saturday reflects great word of mouth, as well as the fact that all segments of the audience are turning out, including families.

The tentpole played evenly in terms of age, with 50 percent of the audience under the the age of 25 and 50 percent over. Couples made up 55 percent, families 24 percent and teens 21 percent. Males represented 60 percent of the audience.

Avengers -- which assembles marquee Marvel superhero characters Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Hemsworth), Captain America (Chris Evans), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner) -- earned an A+ CinemaScore.

IMAX theaters reported record business, generating north of $15 million in ticket sales domestically to tie with Deathly Hallows Part 2 for the biggest opening weekend in the circuit's history. IMAX expects to finish the weekend with a worldwideume of $31.2 million.

i love him so much

^LOL I also recognize him from The New Adventures of Old Christine :)

little boxoffice update

"The Avengers" has already reached the billion-dollar mark at the worldwide box office.
The superhero blockbuster took in $103.2 million in the US to lead for a second-straight weekend, raising its domestic total to $373.2 million. With $95.4 million more overseas, "The Avengers" lifted its international receipts to $628.9 million for a worldwide haul of just over $1 billion.
The action smash from Disney's Marvel Studios easily fended off Johnny Depp and Tim Burton's vampire romp "Dark Shadows," which had a so-so domestic start of $28.8 million to finish a distant No. 2.
That's far below such past Depp-Burton collaborations as "Alice in Wonderland," which opened with $116.1 million, and "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory," which debuted with $56.2 million.

i'll see it again sometime next week, can't wait:buzz:
