the magenta is the original magenta that came out for fw 05, they're doing a limited edition of it. The new purple is the eggplant color.

^I think that the days of Balenciagas being hard to find are long gone. They def. produce to meet demand and then some now. I would still list for the purple, since it is def. going to be the most popular color for this season...

Finding a purple bag shouldn't be hard, but finding the one you want might be. Because Balenciaga is coming out with what seems like 5000 styles - between the new shapes, the different hardwares, more colors than last season, etc - according to Bal NY there's going to be less of each style produced. I'm not sure what the statistics are for each style, but I know they're only getting two of each accessory in individual colors (ie: two pine clutches, two yellow clutches, two purple clutches, two pine compagnons, two yellow compagnons... etc, etc) and I heard up to 6 of each color per style for the regular bags (ie: six ocean firsts, six yellow days, six GH yellow days, six purple works, six GH purple works... etc, etc)

I'm not sure how much Barney's, Saks, etc are ordering but I wouldn't be surprised with all the choices for fall if they use a similar model. So I'd try to get your name on whatever lists while you can and then decide which ones you want when they actually come in.

i think its a US thing. lived in london for 10 years on off and every other shop carrying balenciaga or that has a balenciaga concession never has a list... i always feel there is too much of a hype for this as i can find the bag i want at any given time somehow. so i agree with you.
even balenciaga paris always has amazing stock
having said that i have people/friends out in pretty much everywhere around the wrold looking out for the bag i want!!

maybe it is a USA thing. I hope so since there's a possibility of me being in Europe when the fall colors are released (daphne at bal ny has me down for a bunch of bags but she said they can arrive anytime from june-august...)

i'm going to be in rome and paris during july, are there any stores there in Europe that have particularly large selections of bbags to chose from?

Uniq..I remember calling them last year and they refused to put my name on a waiting list. They said they "dont do reserves"...

I was wondering does any one own a Giant Brief? how big is it roughly? I am thinking of purchasing a GB style for a change not sure yet...aghhh cant make up ma mind...

i have to disagree with you...
some stores didn't order certain colors (for s/s, aloha rag didn't order aquamarine, neiman marcus didn't order anthracite), so you have to call around to find it...
and like dannyboy said, bal ny orders a certain number of pieces in each color and hardware combo...
people who preordered or did the wait list get the bags as soon as it comes in...which means not as many bags for the rest of us...
for example, i know that for f/w, bal ny ordered one purple weekender with regular hardware, and it's been claimed already...so if you want one, you need to call around...

this is the first year bal ny did an accessories only trunkshow, and people in attendance could put their names down for things (or even prepay) on the spot...

sometimes it's hard to tell what's going to be the hot color for the season...it seems like the blues and sandstone/naturel were hot this fall...
i think the purple and yellow are going to be popular for obvious reasons, but i wonder what the other hot color will be...

ggirl and princessimp, what size bbags did you both order?
i went to neiman's on saturday and test-drove a work...
i feel better about the decision to get the steel work over the city...

I really dislike how balenciagas got at least 20-30 styles now. It's too watered down. I with they'd just stick w/ no more than 10 key styles.

Thats bad news the purple work has already been claimed I'll have to call around..

I'm not sure though if I want a work or WE. I have two other works which I really love. The weekender looks really great on some girls but I dont know if I'll look swampted in it. Chauss and Uniq, how tall are you girls? The the WE significantly larger than the work when worn?

hi gg, i am not buying story of only one purple, etc... sounds like U.S. hype... i will check with my sources and PM you details... you will get the bag you want. just a feeling....i have been collecting bal since 2002 and have learned a couple of things along the way about bal bags....B) the bags were not even out on display in thoses days and you had to know the proper lingo to get into the secret drawer....

i am 5'7" and usually have on heels. the weekender drapes much lower than the work so it gets even more slouchy. did u see me and my white work pix i just posted? the work does not drop as much as WE. let me see what other pix i can find...

Balenciaga will always tell people they are only getting one, or two or three of a bag, but then magically you'll be there in the middle of the season and ask a question about it and they'll go in that back room and pull out every color you could imagine in whatever style you want. It is absolute hype when they claim they won't have something at all. When I said they were not hard to find I meant in general, I don't mean you can just walk into any store and find the one you want, but with a few calls its yours. It used to be that there were actually next to no bags, if you didn't get it the day it hit the floor you were out for a season, but they produce far more now.

i agree that some stores dont order certain colours but believe me if an actual balenciaga store told me they only ordered ONE of a bag.. i would ask them who their buyer is.
as far as i know, even if you are a balenciaga store (or any other big name store that is) there are minimums that also they have to obey by. and usually i think its at least 2.....

is anyone here a balenciaga buyer?
if not, i will report back as to how the minimums work once ive been there

terry from bal ny was the one who gave out the info regarding the purple weekender...she said that for right now, they only ordered one...
this is just the purple weekender with the regular hardware...they may have ordered more in giant gold or giant silver hardware...
and they may have ordered more purple bags in other styles (work, city, part time, etc.)...

some of the girls from the purse forum went to the trunk show last week, and they reported back about what bal ny ordered...the sa's and store manager was there to answer questions...
i was just passing on the information here...

and i know what you mean about stores having a stash in the back...neiman's in san francisco does that all the time, but i know to ask what they have back there...

What are my chanches finding an giant traveler, plain traveler (does that excist?), giant clutch, oval clutch(is it still avail or discontinued?), or any rather big clutch at all really; on sale in london, in really early july? And how much could i fit into those?

kimair, I put my name down for a grape work with gold GH and a marigold part-time with silver GH. I want the grape work pretty badly just because I have been searching for the original eggplant Bbag forever but was too chicken to get one off eBay. I suspect that the marigold might end up being almost the same shade as my balloon bag but I'll probably end up getting it as I want a part-time.

Lvizo, sorry I don't know much about Bal clutches, hopefully one of the UK tFS members will be able to give you better advice. Hope you'll end up with what you want!
