How I love that girl!!

Unfortunatelly I dont't know what she does to maintain her hair...

But I got another question... did any of u try the Toni & Guy Platinum shampoo? I am so tempted! But I heard that it's highly damaging?

she uses l'oreal s dark blond
she had posted it i think a year ago

I want to bleach my hair so badly, but you all have to understand something about me, which is that I have 'problems' when it comes to dying my hair, I will just keep going and going until it is absolutely ruined. And then I hate it. And then I dye it again because I am convinced that 'maybe darker will make it look healthier' or 'it's too mousey' and so forth.
In the end I am really better off just not using dye on it at all, ever, period. It just requires herculean feats of concentration to get me to NOT walk in to the beauty supply store on my lunch break (and there are THREE good ones within walking distance of my office).
I even went to the store today on my way home, and luckily ended up walking out without any bleach powder.
I did get a nice bottle of detangler for myself though.

bleach is the worst thing you can do to your hair.
it's never a good idea, just think of how bad your hair will be when you bleach it.

Psylocke loving the pic you posted of Kate...
Next week it is a new step into the lighting path on a healthy way aka money and time at the hairdressers but way much worth it... now my hair looks so flat that im over wearing hats... even to talk on skype haha
can't wait to go... today i saw a girl who switched to the same hairdresser as I go now and her blond was beyond amazing!

^^ Good luck with the hair lightning (that your hairdresser don't messed up with your hair) ^_^

can ony of you recommend a shampoo for naturally blonde hair that will liven up the colour a bit? (drugstore brands please) i'm currently growing out my hatural colour and it looks so boring, it's a medium blonde ashy blonde:(
do any of these shampoos for blonde hair actually work? and are these "purple" shampoos only for bleached or also naturally blonde hair?

Alvedansen, purple shampoos are originally for bleached blonde / grey or white hair and help to prevent a brassy (yellow) tone. But you can still use it as a natural blonde! I do it too (my hair natural color's already very, very light) and I feel the pruple shampoo makes it more vibrant and shiny rather than lightening it up. But just try it out! You seem a little darker than me so it might light you up quite a bit.
[You said you are growing out your natural color at the moment though - if you lighted up before you might be careful that you don't only get the purple shampoo effect on the ends but nothing on the roots!]

I use John Frieda Colour Renew and TIGI Catwalk Fashionista. Can definitely recommand those to you! If you don't wanna spend so much money on it yet, you can try Guhl or Swiss-O-Par Silver Shampoo (don't know where you live but judging from your name it's Europe  so those two should be available in the EU).

Another thing I haven't tried out yet but that's totally luring me somehow is Toni&Guy Platinum Shampoo. Will try that after I finnished mine! They also have a line from golden blonde tones if you are looking for a rather warm color - check out here: http://store.toniandguy.com/s/browse/products/toniandguy/colour-enhancing

Alvedansen, it depends on what sort of boost you want for your hair! The purple shampoos are decent and all the ones Pengy recc'd are good from my knowledge, but they definitely cool your hair colour, which is usually a problem for dyed blondes who get brassy and yellow. If your hair is looking too orangey and flat, then the purple cooling shampoos should help. But if you're working with a natural blonde that you're bored with because it's too dull and ashy, you might actually want to be warming the colour up a bit? My hair is a medium ash blonde and when it's natural it looks literally like old cardboard, drives me nuts.

Clairol Natural Instincts is nice semi-permanent dye for really slight changes with basically no damage (when my hair was its natural medium ashy blonde I used to use their light golden shades to warm the colour up a bit.) When I was a redhead I relied on John Frieda Luminous Glaze to keep my colour decent between salon appts, so their blonde glazes might be worth a shot too?

Davines Alchemic products are also great for colour-depositing and actually really work -- their golden conditioner might be great if you're looking to warm it up, or try the silver if you're looking to cool it down.

Hi :flower:

I'm thinking of trying to go a dark blonde using a box dye with ammonia!

This is my hair now (natural:(

And I'm hoping to get it this colour (her hair is gorgeous!:(

The only problem is, I'm not sure which colour to use. My sis who used to do hairdressing (and she always dyes her hair) is going to help me when I do it but I was wondering if anyone could give a second opinion (One which isn't "go to the salon" )

For example, I was looking at the Nice N Easy Permanent dyes and my sister suggested I use 106B Natural Champagne Blonde.

But the shades of that dye on the UK and US websites look completely different!

I'm a bit confused about which colour dye to use - can anyone shed some light on how I should go about getting that dark blonde colour? :flower:

Look at the numbers, a ten might be too light, but then, your hair is rather dark comparatively. So make sure to do a strand test. I've returned boxed of dye to the store before and only ever gotten a few raised eyebrows.

This chart is also super useful to help you gauge where you want to go with it. A lot of times the product number is useful, because the product names are different in different countries, but a 10b is a 10b usually no matter what.

Hi dauphine

That chart is really helpful! So a 106B is a 10 on that chart? Although what does the 6 and B stand for?

I suppose I'm a 4 or a medium brown? And the dark gold blonde is a 6...

I also didn't know you could return boxes of dye so that's great

Also, I don't know if my hair is too gold and auburn-ish to lighten into that dark gold blonde?

Here it is in natural sunlight:

Thanks for your help :flower:

That's something that you would have to infer from looking at the other product numbers in whatever line of color you're using. Generally salon color goes from 1 (black) to 10-11 (Blonde)

MelissaRB, it's super difficult to lift your hair evenly with just box dye if your hair is dark... your hair looks around a 3 or 4 brown (but looks lighter in the second photo you posted, maybe a 5?) and the picture you posted is around a level 7 golden blonde, I'd say? Just dyeing your hair with box dye once won't damage it too much, so it's worth a shot just trying the shade you wanted (the champagne blonde you wanted) to see what shade it gets your hair to -- i can't see that being disastrous, i think the worst case scenario there is that it's just not as light as you want, since lightening with just box dye is nearly impossible. no box dye that doesn't claim to have a "bleaching kit" is going to lighten your hair more than a shade.

If you really want to go lighter without going to a salon and if your hair is its natural colour now, why not try some lightening shampoos/some of the tricks with lemon juice etc folks have posted in the past here to see if you can lift it a bit? Foils are also quite cheap at a salon if you only get a few, and even just a few honey ones or a bit of balayage around your face might lift the overall look enough to read as "blonde" like you want.

If you REALLY want to lighten at home and your sister is handy with hair like you said, you could break the base with a soap cap (mix bleach, developer, and conditioner or shampoo -- it's a weak bleach that lifts hair just a bit) or a little bit of bleach with very weak developer (20) to lift your whole head a shade or two, let it rest a day or two (you'll probably be a bit splotchy, get a cute hat) and then dye over it with around a level 7 blonde. That could get icky real fast though even if you do a good job! There's just no way to tell what your hair will do :(

i've also always dyed my blonde ashier than i want since it tends to get brassy quickly, especially box dye? you may want to avoid box dye that is too "golden" as it really may come out more "orange," especially if you've done any pre-bleaching.

also FYI -- looking at the clairol site and their numbering system doesn't seem to quite line up with the standard, so just compare their charts to the chart dauphine posted above! at least in the US the chart she posted is a pretty standard numbering system for haircolours.

OMG SORRY THAT GOT SO LONG

Another visit to the hairdresser...i couldn't get a lighter color so I'm still mid/dark blond... although with that light looks lighter... but baby steps...

I had to stop with the Go Blonder shampoo because it was making my hair too dry. Drat. I ended up having to trim a little off the ends actually.

I have a problem. My hair was really blonde for summer (balayage) but now I wanted to return to my natural hair colour which is a neutral blonde. Not too ash, not too honey either. I mixed two colours (8 & 8/13 with volume 20) and left in on for 30min. Now my hair is slightly too dark and has a horrible greyish/green tint to it.
HOW do I fix this?
Would a honey-ish colour cancel out the green tone and make it more natural?
Also, I'm going on a holiday to Egypt in two weeks and my hair will see a lot of sun and salty water .
