The City

She didn't say she wanted to copy the dress. She said that she wanted to do something with feathers. And that's called inspiration, not copying. You know, the thing desingers look for when they search for new ideas.Let's not take things out of its context please.
I admire Whitney for following her dreams. Very few young designers manages to hit the spot at their first collection, and it's about time that MTV show the brutal side of fahsionworld for once.

I couldn't agree more.

Whitney is really passionate about fashion no doubt about that. but she does need more talent to back it up. attend Parson will def help her. She needs the dose of the reality.

Olivia is a pretty girl. I'm not sure if she's like this in real life but in the show she's rather shallow and irresponsible. There's no way you can have that work ethics and still make a good name for yourself. (somehow, it reminds me of the previous Tinsley incident)

Whitney is lucky to have Kelly in her life/career. she needs that. She's a sweet girl. but honey you're not in LA anymore. However, I found the way she talk is really annoying after watching the first half of the episode.

I haven't really been following this season but I did catch a few epi online over this rainy memorial day weekend... last night epi was all kinds of awesome.

I do feel a bit sorry for Whitney because she has decided to put herself out there with her line... at the same time I feel like a dose of reality from Anne S and Joe Z was much needed since she saw herself on the same level of Phillip Lim and Alex Wang. Has she seen their collection? her own collection? Surely, she can see that her clothes are not even close to being on par with these great and 'real' designers. At the same time, Whitney has been dedicated to the fashion industry way before she got into reality tv... and one can tell that she is passionate about her line and works hard...

She needs to make some changes asap... she should use her time while living in NYC to enroll at a fashion school like FIT and take some courses... afterall, she did get a degree in gender studies and never really studied fashion...

I have no word for Olivia... Elle mag as well as Joe Z look like complete fools for not firing her already (even though it's fake). She fails at her fake job... that's reason enough to give her the boot...

wow. after looking at the preview of the next episode I tink olivia is really screwed

I love the Elle news director for saying what I'm always thinking about Whitney's collections

If Whitney had a passion for fashion she would have gone to fashion school and studied something relating to fashion like most people who desire careers in fashion. A Gender Studies major doesn't convey a passion for fashion. To me, Whitney is a rich girl who likes clothes and had parents wealthy enough to finance and produce her line through their own apparel company.

^ Amen...they are a bunch of spoiled brats, except maybe for Erin, who may well want and need a job and career... ;)

i dont understand how whitney s line is just items. if u re in the fashion industry as a designer u have got to know that a collection should tell a story therefore have a continuation instead of being mismatched items from left and right

another thing, someone should seriously clue in Olivia on how it works in fashion. when a designer invites u to their party and lets u pick clothes before hand u re supposed to wear them to the party. wearing someone else is an insult.
also, i HATE how she talks with her jaw shut it annoys the s..t out of me and it s definitly time to kick her to the curb.
i m starting to think this show is a mockery to those who love fashion have studied it and who would give anything to be in those idiots' shoes

^ I so agree!! How insulting to the people struggling and working hard to study and learn the business, and then have everyone talking about these morons who have paid no dues and in many cases have nothing to offer...

Finally saw the episode, it was a good one.

How much do I love Erin's little smirk...lmao. She is too much and I say that in the best possible way. She seems to be the only one who is serious about getting the job done than again that could be because it really is her job.

Olivia just needs to stop. She is so crass and I know lots of people have gone on about her looks but to me she's 'cute' at best and really I don't care if she was my identical twin sister, her attitude is down right embarrassing. :yuk:

Yet I don't place all blame on Olivia but rather both her and Joe. His incessant need to 'use' Olivia's connections is just ridiculous. I'm just glad that next week he will seemingly finally wake up and realize that she's more trouble than shes worth.

Glad that Whitney got a wake up call of sorts. Her heart seems to be really in the right place ie - she wants to learn and make it work (Tim Gunn) but it's clear as day that she's a bit scattered brain.

As already mentioned, a line should thread together and tell a story whereas her line tells about 10. Oh and how ridic did she sound when describing her 'girl'...love the defensiveness of 'I'm just being honest', it's like well don't be. :ninja:

Roxy *sigh* ...I Can't. :hardhead:

^ I agree to everything!

I just dont like erin. she comes across as very immature. i didnt like her from S1.. :yuk:

I agree 100%

I know MANY people who have the money for all that but STILL went to fashion school.

you HAVE to.. u need basics..

^ Yeah, and maybe you would know what a collection consists of before you present a mish-mash of things to some powerful people (again)...and then she goes to Kelly and says 'I don't know how much more of this criticism I can take'!!! Jeeze- pack it up and head back to Mommy and Daddy in LA- you will not be missed by the fashion industry in New York...
I'm feeling like this show is going from kind of interesting to just kind of stupid... :(

I didn't realise Roxy was from a famous family, was surprised to learn that. I wonder if her and Whitney were really friends before the show, though? Or was she cast like Whitney's first group of friends.

^ I'm beginning to wonder if any of it is real, or if all of the people and story lines came from the TV network...

It seems like Whitney does this designing thing because she happen to got the opportunity and it just seemed fun for her. Remember Roxy being suprised when she heard Whitney wanted to design because Whitney never showed intrest in fashion and looked like plain Jane in highschool? I don't think she's really truely passionate about fashion like most designers. She looks and acts completely clueless when it comes to fashion. Imo, she lack talent and knowledge and it shows with her insecurities all the time. She really needs to go study fashion!

Look at this dress! It's hideous. It looks like a curtain from a few 100 years ago. My pic.

Have you seen how it looks on an actual person? I don't want to say what the front of the dress looks like. At first I thought the model was transsexual:innocent:

OMG!! :o Whitney- they're hiring at the local Starbucks...you might want to think about a 'career' change...

Well yeah I don't think designing what part of the plan initially.... but she has been committed to fashion even before reality tv. She started out as an art major at University of Co and I guess change her major once she transferred to USC. She did interned for 3 summers at W magazine and 2 years with teen vogue, so...

But yeah the clothes have too much details imo and looks hideous... I wouldn't spent my money and I really like Whitney... She needs to go to fashion school if she wants to improve her line imo.
