I broke down and got this lanvin bag and looove it! it's practical but funky (people are like, what is that??) and works both day and night and with a wide variety of outfits. however, it was $1600, which I would not consider "affordable."

This bag now intrigues me....what other colors does it come in? Do you think it looks too much like a birkin or does it have its own look in person?

I was in the Monte Carlo boutique recently and only saw the new mixed leather and suede designs. They had one new bag in leopard design - also quite intriguing.

you are singaporean right? me too. just wanted to tell you that they have the lanvin bag in the lanvin store in takashimaya! only 2 pieces, i reserved one but as of this afternoon the other one is still on display. retailing for 2899 bucks. if you want it i can call the SA as i have her number to reserve it for you as well, and they just got the stock in on monday! so if you really like it, hurry before they r gone this weekend... its REALLY very pretty. =)

I need to find a 'perfect' black bag as well, i am considering the black Chanel reissue or the black balenciaga classique, i am not really leaning strongly towards any of them, i just love both, but my budget won't reach out to get both.

Other suggestions would be appreciated..

if you love it, get the black chanel reissue. you already have a b-bag and the black will always be available (not necessarily so for the reissue). or how about the cerf tote? if it's too boring for you, how about this gucci

I love this topic I too have been looking for that holy grail black bag for everyday. The more I see of the Cerf the more I love it. Though the black Lanvin is astounding as well. Choices, choices

I like this Tod's bag, though its got a bit of a sportier vibe. Its called the Charlotte Lavoro Grande which conjures the image of some exotic adventures.

It reminds me quite a bit of the classic LV Alma which I adore in the Epi Black Leather. My mother actually just purchased this bag and I love it. So discreet and classy. Vuitton has gotten a bit of a bad rap in recent years but I think their non-monogram logo collections are wonderful.

For a lower priced yet still very hip black bag I like this one from DKNY, its only $275 at eluxury. It is a much funkier style though, perhaps not for a conservative office but I still really enjoy it. Its also featured in their latest ads in a variety of jewel tones.

And I know someone said it before but Coach has some nice affordable leather bags, especially this season. The Soho and Hamptons collections both have nice bags. The Hamptons leather satchel is especially cute.
