I shave there regularly :innocent:
But I have to be careful since it's a very sensitive area.
I think waxing would be too painful.

Just got my first brazilian today......ouch

Me too! Well yesterday, actually. Double ouch! It nearly brought tears to my eyes. I'm satisfied with the result, but a little worried about the next weeks. I'm very prone to ingrowns and bumps that turn into little pimples, so I'm using Tend Skin and talc everyday.

I did laser hair removal a couple of years ago, and it worked initially - the hairs naturally fell - but eventually everything grew back. I was told that laser hair removal doesn't always last forever, because hormonal changes can trigger dormant hair folicles. I guess that's what happened to me. So now I wax a couple of times in summer and use a trimmer the rest of the year...

the thing i like about shaving too is that you dont have to wait for hair to grow back as much to get clean again that would drive me crazy

LOL, yup it was quite painful, I went with a friend who didn't flinch or move. She said it seemed like I was in enough pain for the both of us.

I'm kinda bummed b/c I used to get brazilians done and I've found myself in a newfound state of brokeness so I can't get one indefinately. Which means I have to just forget about it (I don't think I'm capable of that, plus what about bikinis and superlowrise jeans?) or start shaving or wax it myself.

If I shave I am worried it will grow back thicker and I'll have stubble. Has anyone had this happen? Plus I can't shave all in between and the "bunnytail" area.

I am tempted to try at-home waxing but I don't think I have the strength to rip it myself. When the lady does it I can just brace myself and be surprised but if I do it I'll anticipate the pain and wimp out. And NO!!! I will not ask my mother to do it. I guess this is a little of a vent unless anyone has advice for at-home techniques... Has anyone been successful at waxing themselves?

I tried an at home wax- the actual wax ripping has never reallly been that painful to me, but I used this veet product that just didn't work. I will happily go back to Nair once the gooey blue stuff of the wax wears off :ninja:

If you shave you will get stubble, but it WON'T GROW BACK THICKER. This is such a common misconception.

^ Very true. It just will look that way because it all grows back at the same time, whereas you got it gradually and didn't really notice.

Hmmm... thank you khaotickharma and tott. You guys are right. I guess I am so reluctant b/c stubble is just...ew.:yuk: And when I am waxed the regrowth in between is thinner, softer, straighter, finer. At least it seems so. Ah well since I can't afford it right now, I'll have to put up with it...

I was wondering, if you go to get a wax, do they ask your age? Or are there restrictions? I'd hate to go and not be able to get it done, you know?

I haven't heard of age restrictions but I would say that if you can't drive yourself there maybe it's not necessary....:innocent:

I hate shaving down there ... It leaves a total porcupine look ... I maybe consider either a Hollywood wax or Veet ... whatever makes it at least look good!

I hate getting 'down there' ingrowns..its so painfull and makes me soo damn self-concious.

Can I ask a questiong for you gals..do you get brazilians (or catwalks as i call them) or just the bikini line done.

Veet is similar to Nair, no?

I use regular Nair lotion "down there," and it does nothing. I've used the Bikini-specific Nair down there, as well, but it didn't take away any of the hair... does anybody have any remover that has been successful in removing hair?? I am avoiding wax.

I get a brazilian every month and used a product called "Ingrow no Grow" to avoid the in growns. I think shaving is just to annoying.

I usually don't plan ahead and end up shaving...which sucks I know...
but Aveeno makes this new shave cream for sensitive skin/areas and it has really reduced the redness and bumps for me. I think it's great.

taperjeangirl - where in London do you go? A local place or ?

Meg, I go to a place just out of North London. I just refuse to pay £40 for a brazilian when I can pay £15 for exactly the same result:flower:

I am not sure of any state or federal laws but I have been to places that won't wax anyone under 18 without a parent to sign.

defently not under 16's in the uk as thats the age of consent .. some places are even stricter saying 18 .. i guess they are vunerable to claims.. parents kicking off etc. if they do minors.
