OK, so this is an awkward question. I'm thinking about waxing myself, but how do you get the best results? I don't want it ALL gone, I don't like the whole bare thing (lol), so what should I do? I'm really confused  :ninja:

Well, there are a few things you can do to get a better result:

1. Exfoliate at least 1 hour before you wax. If there are any lotions or oils on your skin the wax won't stick, so you don't want a moisturizing soap. I use baby soap. But wait at least an hour after you get out of the shower.

2. Trim the hair first. If it's too long, it gets kinda messy.

3. Work in small patches. It's easier to handle and see what you are doing.

4. Make sure you pull the skin taunt and pull quickly in the opposite direction of hair growth.

There should be directions will all this on the wax kit, but you never know. If you have any other questions, feel free to message me. :flower:

^ yes thats one way to go

im a little hazy on your question..and i feel i could answer it pretty well, if i understood it a little better. BUT let me give it a shot anyway,

*if you dont want ALL the hair removed, some girls like to leave things such as a strip of hair, or
some sort of design (HAHA...just throwing it out there, def. not too fond of it myself).

*if you dont mean that, and you just want minimal hair without it being bare, trimming is definately the way to go, and then you can wax just the bikini area..

*another alternative is to wax all of the hair off, and then give it a few days and you will have a little hair grown back, probably the amount that you're referring to.

hope this helps

^ hahah wowww...some of the designs are outragious, but yeah..id definately go for a strip or patch.

does anyone have problem of itching? i tried shaving, waxing, trimming, etc for ages but the itch was always unbearable. now i just do a bit of plucking when swimsuit season rolls around and i pretty much leave it at that!

On occasion, yeah it will itch, however it's nothing unbearable. Just put lotion on after you shave (sounds weird I know).

i've slathered on lotion--and it still itches! even if i trim the stupid thing still itches :( I think i'm just gonna splurge on a brazilian and be done with it---until it grows back that is....

sometimes i feel like a guy after i trim...all that crotch itching :)

my hair is pretty thin, even down there.. and definitely not a lot.. but i am goin to go wax soon. i am quite scared to be honest.. i have heard how much it hurts... arghh :(

I just get waxed
I don't like shaving so I just get it all waxed when it's necesarry
gives a clean feeling and it's done quickly..also it has results for quite some time and I feel like the more often you get waxed, the less hair comes back ''there'' :D haha so It's a really good option

it hurt the first time I got it done, but that's because my friend lied and told me I wouldn't feel a thing.
Second time I was preparing for pain and there didn't come any.
Now I'm used to it.

Things like shaving, depilatories, and epillation aren't impacted by the age of your skin. Young skin is perfectly well suited for all of these processes.

The only time it matters that your skin is young is when it comes to UV exposure. It is better for younger people to use sunscreens than older people. And that's just because it will help prolong the length of time that you have nice skin. Once it's old skin, there's not much you can do to make it better.

The Beauty Brains

I don't want to come off as bitching, but I would not say it is more crucial to use sunscreen when you are a kid than when you are old. It is true that what you do in your youth destines what your skin will be when you are old, but don't think you don't need sunscreen as much. The worse thing of not saving your skin from the UV rays is not aging of your skin, but the risk of skin cancer. True, you have a more sensitive skin when you are young, but do use loads of sunscreen on sunlight, no matter what your age is.

As for the actual topic of the thread, I am again one of the people who find their skin does not like shaving their pubic hair. I have tried to soak in a bath before shaving, I have tried exfoliating and using a load of moisturizer afterwards, but always end up itching and with red bumps (ingrown hairs?). I have a very sensitive skin, but is there a way for me to succeed in this? Would waxing be more effective? I'm interested in having a brazilian done, but I am afraid of weird looks for being all "porcelain" ... it makes me think of pre-pubescent girls and pedophiles.

What age is it common for girls to start all this waxing/shaving regime?? :)

I'd suggest when you are at the age when your pubic hair grows and you like to wear swimwear. That is a good point to start. I don't think there's a definite age, as all people develop invidually, and some don't have a lot of pubic hair.

This is a strange thing to announce.
But.
It's gone. All of it. Normally I just trim and groom, but I got adventureous and shaved it ALL off.

How liberating!

Using hair conditioner instead of soap or shaving cream worked wonders! No funny bumps, ingrown hairs, or itchy-painfull-ness.

I may keep it this way.

Wow....how's that for TMI? :p

whitelinen - yes waxing will be the way to go for you it seems like. You may get the odd red bump/in grown hair but it will be a lot better for your skin.
