I think it's beautiful exactly because it's denim. It'd be just another ballroom dress otherwise, but the way it's cut and molded with extra precision and levity on a heavier fabric like denim makes it interesting (plus the contrast of a couture-like gown with a casual fabric like denim, but that's really debatable). Beautiful or not, I think it's certainly well-made and interesting.
Siriano is trying to hard to be 'couture' and eye- catching. He's piling on the volume in the cheapest- looking (although I'm sure it's not) fabric in bland colours and swamping the models in it. They look frumpy.

The tailoring, the colours , yes, fitting as Lola wrote yet, and the make up and shoot, poses, it is a monstrosity which would like to pretend to be a-la Zac Posen or, more, one image tried to be similar but looks like bad parody to Dior HC by John Galliano,shooted by Patrick Demarchelier. But
