The New Gothic / Neogoth

On a whim I bought my wife a pair of black cameo ear-rings while we were in Philly yesterday. Absolutely gorgeous :woot:

...pics?...

(anthropologie.com)

I bought this coat tonight ... targeted shopping strike in between dinner & movie :p It's uncut corduroy, looks like velvet, and looks better on than in this pic. It's relatively lightweight & I plan to wear it as a jacket/coatdress. It comes just past the top of my knees, and looks good with my velvet shoes. I was thinking governess based on what I saw in the catalog, but it's a bit more sexy than I'd anticipated ^_^

What (neo Gothic) styling thoughts do you have?

^ black lace tights, black faux leather gloves, black boots....?!

it's very cute ta-ta...:flower:

well...
i immediately want to tie something crochet or lace in an ivory colour at the neck...(don't laugh-i use a crochet doily as a scarf sometimes...;) ..)
and i would probably wear dk grey texture tights...

you might consider pinning some sort of ribbon to the lapel...
it you are ambitious...
you could twist the ribbons into roses and attach to the lapels...
or even just one lapel...

anything grey flannel would also look good with this i think...
could be a skirt...jumper...pant...culottes...knicker...etc...

^ Softie, sounds like one hell of an amazing idea!! No wonder you're an amazing stylist!!!!

Adding pinned ribbon is absolutely GORGEOUS!!!! Totally agree!

Thanks, kimkhuu & softgrey ... great ideas :flower: The closest I have to lace tights is the paisley w/ fishnet insert ones, those would be good I bet ... and softgrey, I was thinking of lace too ... I have this narrow ivory lace scarf that also works as a belt that I was thinking of pulling out for this ... haven't worn it in years. I was thinking of running it under the collar (another big collar, I'm addicted to them ;)) & just letting it fall. The ends of the scarf are esp pretty. I'll play with it ... I don't have any grey tights, unfortunately ... they seem to be pretty hard to find here (or now, not sure which ;)). I like the ribbon idea too ... but I'm uncertain as to whether I can make a really good rosette myself ... I know what I want it to look like, but getting the ribbon to fray like that would be tough, I probably don't have the patience for it ... I need a stash of vintage/antique ribbon ... There is a ribbon shop here, I wonder if she could get me some pre-frayed ... she might even have some ...

I also have this RL sweater I was thinking about with this ... ivory scoopneck edged w/ crocheted lace, perfect for the sexy governess ;)

^ Sounds great Fashionista-ta, if only I could do the ribbon fraying thing for you, I love doing that...... ^_^

Your description sounds awesome though, I am sure whatever styling decision you come up with will definitely be very creative and artistic! :flower:

^ maybe you can start a little business on the side, fraying ribbon for tFSers ;)

You guys have got me thinking about that ribbon shop, it's so cool ... I'll have to go when I have time off over Thanksgiving ... ^_^

While looking through the indundation of Christmas catalogs ... I discovered some very nice shoes & boots that speak to this trend. I've never heard of this company before, but these are all from J.Marco.com ($108 to $375). They seem of good quality. Thought I'd share :flower:

btw... there are a few more boots that may be worth looking at the link below, but I can't say I'd recommend much else

the lace scarf and swtr seem perfect...
fyi- i think i got grey tights from dkny and hanes this season...
i took them all out of the packages to play with them...but i am pretty sure everything came from hanes or a division of hanes like dkny....:flower:

btw-if you have any old clothes that you are willing to cut up...
you could cut strips and make your own 'ribbons'...
it would look similar to what marni did for fall and it would naturally fray itself...:)

Fashionista-ta, the coat sounds/looks scrumptious!

Destroyed dark grey tights over black tights... or fishnet blacks over dark grey hose/tights

And maybe a dark grey turtleneck w/ribbed neck?

Might be too much. Might not go. Just thoughts. :flower:

Ooh, Curious, love the first boots and last pumps you posted ... the boots look antique and the shoe detail is reminiscent of a spider's web ...

Softgrey, I hadn't considered the fabric strips ... I'm not sure I have anything in the right color though. I have a purple silk blouse I could use, but it's kind of bright for this ...

Yes, DKNY has great tights ... there's another store I can try ...

I'm excited to try all this when the weather turns cool again ... :flower:

This Anthropologie 'Ibis' sweater might go w/something quasi-neo-goth:

Thanks, cbcb :flower:

Just dug the scarf out of my back closet ... it's *perfect* ... the sweater looks good too, will have to try it all on to see about the 2 different types of lace together. Now that I see the antique-looking lace against the velvety black background, I am fashion craving a black and ivory cameo ^_^ Oh dear, I thought I was done shopping for fall  I need to get a picture of this to post ...

(adin.be)

Well, this set is a mere $6662 ... what am I waiting for? :p (Stone is agate, btw--)
