The New Gothic / Neogoth

#967 The clothes/accessories at Burberry are amazing and so is the first Marios Schwab dress. Adore it!

H&M's A/W 07 is great ^_^ thank you so much Glittery_Bug :heart::flower:

I've definitely been in a "gothic" state of mind lately.

Right now I'm obsessed with movement and creating texture with transparent fabrics, I love the idea of clothing billowing around the body like smoke.

Spotted on the runways for f/w 07

Alexander McQueen (apparently the embroidery on the catsuit underneath is a spell of some sort.)

Dolce and Gabbana, if you ignore the overt sexuality.

Nina Ricci (not many designers could manage to make lemon yellow seem even remotely somber, but somehow Olivier did)

Vera Wang (there's a lot more in the collection that could qualify as gothic)

honest to god, this my favorite thread.

vera wang has this tagged these days.

ooh this thread reminds me of jr. high/high school when beetlejuice came out i totally imitated winona's last scene outfit-- dyed black hair, black tights, big patent leather boots, pleated kilt and untucked white shirt. i think my school pic from 15 had that outfit...

i absoluely love the sophistication in layering different textures and materials in black! it's so understated, yet so hard to do right!

I really like this.. It's too dark for me but I love seeing it on others

and I love the examples posted here thanks

My scans, sorry for somewhat poor quality. From Grazia 10/11/07

Maybe Tim Burton's aesthetic works in this context? Sort of a combination of Dickensian darkness and fairytale weirdness.

i consider tim burton to be the godfather of neogoth..

Boudicca is tends to be very literal with their interpretation, I notice. Always a beautiful and inspired garment to behold, but always as it 'should be'. Still wouldn't say no to any of it!

Vera Wang adds such a striking modernity and ease to her work. She truly set a tone.
