^yes, my point was that even though he thinks pete is a "fine lad" he is critical (and i'm not saying this is bad);)

:huh: did she? i think in this case it was the media's confusion, not irina's...lol

Well maybe, I do not remember well what happened, but it's all in her thread, the interview where she said it his transcribed there. Everyone was as surprised as you and me, since it's almost impossible that she dated Jamie. But the interview went something in the line that Kate always steals her boyfriends, Pete and Jamie.

Pete Doherty And The Art Of The Rock'N'Roll Riot

Yesterday it transpired that Babyshambles had been barred from performing at Wiltshire's Moonfest because local police feared they might start a riot.

In the opinion of Chief Superintendent Julian Kirby, Babyshambles have a dangerously inflammatory habit of, erm, varying the tempo of their songs.
"They speed up and then slow down the music and create a whirlpool effect in the crowd," harrumphed Kirby. "They [the crowd] all get geed up and then they start fighting."
Leaving aside the utter barminess of this argument (if you're going to ban music that changes tempo, you'd also have to nix 'Zorba The Greek'), were the police right to be concerned?
The history of rock is, after all, littered with outbreaks of violence…

Babyshambles' Pete Doherty Plays Surprise London Show

With his girlfriend...Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty played an impromptu show in London last night, hours after his band were banned from a music festival.

Doherty's performance at Jazz After Dark was the latest in a string of appearances the singer has made at the venue in Soho.

He played two hours worth of material which pulled songs from both The Libertines and Babyshambles catalogue and was watched by on-off girlfriend, Matilda Thomas.

Doherty's appearance followed confirmation yesterday that a festival in Wiltshire has been cancelled after Babyshambles were banned form performing at the event.

Police won a case at North Wiltshire Magistrate's on Monday, in which they claimed Doherty's band could incite violence.

They used YouTube footage of a stage invasion which took place during Doherty's recent solo show at the Royal Albert Hall to argue their case.

You can see pictures from Doherty's gig last night below...

Pete Doherty's new girlfriend Matilda worries parents

22/08/2008

HORROR OF DAUGHTER'S DOHERTY DATE
They are the words guaranteed to strike dread into the heart of every parent - "Guess what, Dad? I'm dating Pete Doherty!"
No wonder Matilda Thomas's folks have packed their infatuated, 18-year-old, convent-educated daughter off to therapy.
And they're not the only ones who are upset. We hear Matilda's growing relationship with junkie rocker Pete, 29, has even caused her to fall out with her best mate, Pixie Geldof. Matilda has been hanging around with the Babyshambles badboy since they met in a pub two years ago.
But in the past few weeks they have become an item. And last night, she rushed off to see her on-off boyfriend play an impromptu gig at London venue Jazz After Dark.
Twirling her hair, Matilda told us: "My mum made me attend alcohol counselling because I started drinking so much.
"Pete drinks a LOT and I feel like I have to keep up, but it's hard."
Incredibly, the junkie rocker was once an angelic chorister. Although these days his halo has slipped - not that Matilda thinks so.

She was tucked up in bed at the family home in Central London when Pete called her at 1am to say he was on his way to Jazz After Dark. Immediately, she flung on some clothes and rushed off to the Soho venue-getting there before he did.
Matilda gushed: "He is amazing. I didn't even put on my shorts because I didn't want to be late."
Pete, who had failed to show for an earlier DJ set at Punk, finally turned up at 3.15am, dressed in a cape and top hat. His set included Twist And Shout and some Libertines hits.
As he left, Pete - who was seen canoodling with another on-off love, Portia Freeman, earlier this month - held Matilda's hand.
But in his other mitt was a painting of him and his ex, Kate Moss.
Not a good sign, Matilda love...

Pete Doherty breaks the law at Leeds Festival

Babyshambles man defies smoking ban on NME/Radio1 Stage
  • Aug 23, 2008
Pete Doherty flouted the UK smoking ban during Babyshambles' headline set on the NME/Radio 1 Stage at Leeds Festival tonight (August 23).

Doherty and guitarist Mik Whitnall frequently sparked up cigarettes during the band's hour-long set, which was delayed for ten minutes and was watched by a half-full tent of delirious fans.

The ban on smoking in public places in the UK came into force in July 2007, and includes tents at festivals.

Opening with 'Carry On Up The Morning', the band's set was heavy on tracks from their 2007 album 'Shotters Nation', including 'Baddie's Boogie', 'Unstookietitled' and the single 'Delivery'.

Singles 'Killamangiro' and 'F*** Forever' sparked riotous scenes amongst fans, while Doherty dedicated the aforementioned 'Unstookietitled' to black civil rights activist Marcus Garvey.

'Albion' was later dedicated to the memory of Daniel Squires, a 16-year-old fan who Doherty befriended and played at the wake of after his death from bone marrow cancer.

"He's sadly no longer with us," Doherty said.

The song's lyrics were changed in customary fashion, with mentions of Sheffield and Wakefield reflecting the gig's Yorkshire setting.

Doherty then jumped into the photopit at the close of the song to collect hats from fans, which he then proceeded to pile on his head.

Babyshambles played:

'Carry On Up The Morning'
'Delivery'
'Beg, Steal Or Borrow'
'Baddie's Boogie'
'Side Of The Road'
'Unstookietitled'
'Killamangiro'
'Sedative'
'Pipedown'
'I Wish'
'The Blinding'
'Albion'
'F*** Forever'

PETE DOHERTY - DOHERTY SAVES THE DAY AT FESTIVAL

Troubled rocker PETE DOHERTY has been hailed a hero after he prevented a massive fire by alerting authorities to smoke at a recent concert.
The singer had arrived at England's Reading festival on Saturday (23Aug08), where he was due to play a gig with his band Babyshambles, when he spotted smoke billowing from a parking lot.
He proceeded to phone the fire department to report the blaze - to the amazement of onlookers.
One witness tells British newspaper The Daily Star, "It was thanks to him that the fire did not spread any further.
"I was amazed - I've never seen him move so fast. He's the last person you'd expect to have such a lightning reaction to anything, unless it was illegal. But he stopped the situation from getting any worse."
Nineteen cars were damaged in the blaze but no one was hurt.

a 17-year-old girl obsessed with pete and babyshambles overdosed this week. i won't post any news about it because i don't think it's necessary. if it wasn't pete she would idolize another person, and would end up like this anyway.

Pete Doherty makes it to French Communist bash

Reuters
September 15, 2008

Paris -- Pete Doherty and his band Babyshambles wowed the crowd at the annual bash of French Communist newspaper L'Humanité, reviving memories of the days when he was better known for his music than his shambolic lifestyle. Arriving on time and dressed in a black tuxedo, Doherty greeted the 70,000-strong crowed in the Parc de la Courneuve near Paris with a "bonsoir," before his band launched into their first song La Belle et la Bête (The Beauty and the Beast).
Doherty's well-publicized battle with xxxx abuse and turbulent lifestyle has seen him fail to turn up at many concerts. On stage, performances have often been erratic. Many of Doherty's Parisian devotees had flocked to La Courneuve in the hope of finally seeing him after two no-shows.

PETE DOHERTY - DOHERTY + BARAT THRILL FANS WITH REUNION

Former LIBERTINES bandmates PETE DOHERTY and CARL BARAT thrilled fans as they took to the stage at a surprise reunion gig in London.
Doherty was scheduled to perform at The Prince of Wales pub in Camden, North London on Wednesday (17Sep08) for fashion label Gio-Goi - a brand the rocker has modelled for in the past.
And revellers were stunned as Doherty was joined on stage by Barat to play some of their classic tracks, as well as a rendition of Oasis' Don't Look Back In Anger.
Earlier this year (Jun08), Barat hinted that he would like to reunite with Doherty - telling reporters he "missed" the star.
The Libertines - hailed as the future of rock when they first found fame in 2002 - split acrimoniously in 2004 due to Doherty's xxxx addictions. He went on to form Babyshambles, with Barat fronting the Dirty Pretty Things.
