The Royal Wedding

i never liked Kate, i thought shes pushy and arrogant but after seeing her all shy and nervous and in that dress and so elegant and simple, i really feel bad for being so judgmental. hope that she and William will continue this fairytale, cos they really seem so in love.

Just a quick comment that I posted in another board, but feel is more appropriate here. (and in this thread I guess) It's concerning her wedding dress.

I don't think it's fair to say Alexander McQueen did the dress, Kate collaborated with Sarah Burton the woman to create the dress, not with Lee himself.

While Sarah may be top dog at Alexander McQueen the brand, it does not automatically mean that whatever she does is automatically McQueen. She's a great designer in her own right, she just happens to be very closely associated with McQueen.

It's a dress by Sarah Burton for Kate Middleton not Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen the man or brand.

She did use some of the McQueen resources that she obviously has but those are just an extra, it's all her running the show.

Think of it this way, if Alexander McQueen were still alive, would Kate collaborate with him specifically? Probably not, while she did did decide to go with the woman that is under McQueens shadow, it does not mean that the dress is McQueen. It's a nice nod from Kate though to McQueen, but it is still Sarah's dress.

Ok end of my rant.

I love this gif.

It's so adorable.

everyone at home watched the wedding spectacle, and my mom thought the dress was a big pile boring.. i had to agree for a while too. after all the speculation and media play, it was a bit anticlimactic -- not that i did expect anything avant garde or edgy or something mcqueen/sarah would usually create, just one that had a little more flair than the one middleton eventually wore. in the end, given the tedious preparations, maybe the royal family code of conduct dictates the bride to wear something generic. the details of the dress were exquisite though.

and wow the reception coverage nearly put me to sleep. aside from the pageantry of the cute fascinators, kate and william showed almost zero passion, which was sad.. i think i liked princess di's wedding more. well to each his own. happy for them though.
I do agree on it all a bit passionless. But that's the British monarchy for you. Especially when you compare it to the Crown Princely Couple of the Netherlands when they got married. ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R4eJyZhzF6c ) That said, William and Kate looked radiant. I love love Kate's wedding dress, her whole look. Thank the fashion gods for Sarah being appointed to this and not some mediocore designer.

She spoke with such a shy voice when they were in the abbey, I thought it was really cute, and looking at her old thread I don't understand why is there so many people hating on her, I think she is an elegant young women, all women don't have to be edgy or into fashion to be beautiful, attractive or whatever. And she seems truly in love with William, let's juste hope it doesn't turn bad like it did for Diana.

Just now breaking away from the coverage. IT WAS ALL SOOOOOO GORGEOUS!!! The dress was PERFECT--beautiful, well-made, demure yet modern and sexy--the vows were so sweet and the TWO (!!!!!!!!) balcony kisses were wonderful! :D Who wouldn't love this couple now? BTW: Did you all see Kate's reaction when stepping out onto the balcony and she first saw THAT CROWD gathered? She said, "Oh wow!" plain as day. Such an amazing wedding!

I like her dress! It's simple, yet, classy ! He is very pretty and I really enjoyed that wedding!

i believe in destiny and i think kate was predestined for this role she was so poised gracefull and i think she comes across as a disciplined obedient responsible person so i dont think she would have much problems when it comes to following the rules of her new family she looked great i cant find 1 thing to complain about.

Guys, why some areas near Westminster Abbey were yellow, was that sand?

Isn't there a new Kate Middleton thread? I saw the old one was closed, or is there now only a Royal wedding thread?

I'm not sure. I wish we could talk about her dress there. But I'm not sure they want us to.

I have to agree. I haven't seen the full ceremony yet, just some clips and photos, but the whole thing seems very lack luster. I thought William and Kate looked old and tired, I thought her dress was boring and it reminded me of a nightgown, and I thought the neckline on Pippa's was totally inappropriate for church.

The wedding was perfect. Kate was beyond beautiful.:wub:She's so classy, true princess! They are both so adorable together, I'm really happy for them.^_^
And I'll never forget this wedding- I hit my car for the very first time.:ninja:

Katherine is the perfect princess of our days, she looked perfect and was born to be a princess.

Yeah it's sand to stop the horses slipping on the painted pieces of road or manhole covers. However HorseGuards always has cover

The best thing about the whole ceremony was Harry, IMO
Same for me, I cracked up when Kate was walking down the altar and William is not looking and Harry just looks back with a grin and whispers something to William, wish there was a gif of that .. he looks like a lot of fun, and so does William, and Kate too.. they had a lot in their eyes, I didn't see any lack of spark or passion, they just seemed respectful but you can tell they're very much into each other and like to make each other laugh.

when do we expect them to make their appearance for the dinner? :flower:
