The Tennis Thread

^ saw that on TV, hilarious, she had that blank look for a while longer as well.

I also felt really bad to see Dinara do so badly. I really wished she had won a few games. Also really sad to see Ivanovic and Hewitt go down after their really long matches.

Can't wait to see todays results with Henin and Dokic in action.

It'll also be interesting to see Simon vs. Federer. According to ATP site Simon has won both matches from their previous meetings. Should be some great tennis there.

Gilles Simon is one of the few guys out there with a winning record against Fed.

I really don't like the out fit that Venus Williams is wearing for this campaign at the Aus. Open. I don't mind fashion stakes in tennis gear but that thing shes wearing is just a no, no.

she certainly took it in stride. most women would be offended by such remarks. i mean really, woodie, why?! she does not look either.

i have to say kim,sam stosur and vera zvonareva are officially my picks to win. sadly all on the same side but i just think any single one of those girls are going to win this thing. sammy looked really strong last night. tricky that dushevina but she handled her supremely well. and she looks so unaffected by all the home country pressure. i also was highly impressed with the way vera was able to deal with the onslaught that bojana jovanovski gave her.....she looks so poised and so utterly confident in herself. very mature performance.

ugh, sammy!! kvitova played out of her mind and never allowed sam to get settled at all. and kvitova has been touted quite highly as a serious dark horse outside li na. it's too bad though for sam,she had a great shot. RG is not too far away ;) i hope she can redeem herself once again.

all the main contenders on that side of the draw pretty much struggled. kim had loads of careless errors and was pushed by a newly rejuvenated alize cornet. and vera had her own problems with lucie safarova....but they got through i straights, nevertheless, that's all that matters.

That Tomac kid gave rafa a little run for his money in the second set, i never heard of him till now but I feel we need to keep an eye on him he looks promising

of course I want Nada to win so i think its looking good soo far
Fed would have to move mountains to get to the final and if he does and goes against Nadal, Djoki should have winded him enough for Rafa to snab a sorted victory.

I hope Murray and Soderling go head to head in the semi's, I'm ganna definitely need one of those to knocked out for Rafa(preferably Murray)...

Just hope Nadal can far well against Cilic and Ferrer because those two ganna be wild matches

^don't forget about that young guy from canada....milos raoncic.....remember that name too because he has been extraordinary. and he's also still in it.

I didn't get to see Raoncic's match so i don't know how he plays but i hear hes good so i will watch out for him

Schiavone played a Phenomenal match today (4hrs and 44mins)just unbelievable!!
Now Wozni looks great btw the two of them. I want Wozni to win and theres just no way Voni can come back from that match

Roddick is not looking good on the court and i far hes been as good as he's ganna get

 at Schiavone and Kuznetsova. What a third set they played today! Longest women's grand slam match of all time. A great advert for women's tennis.

^and they talk about isner and mahut? this match was about actual playing not just serves. this one should be the example of survival because they battled the proper way. i stayed up to watch and was on the edge of my seat the duration of that final set. i didn't want it to end!

and kudos to kuzy. after finally beating her long-time nemesis at a major and then to come back and play a match like this?! unbelievable determination. i gotta say she in revamping her entire team, trimming her physique down considerably....i think those components have given her a newfound sense of focus and sustainability. she has nothing to be disappointed about. if ever there was a moment you would like to see two winners,it would be this.

btw,big congrats to funny-girl andrea petkovic. she just about blanked sharapova. she went into the AO with a lot of motivation after getting to the final of brisbane and has not dropped a single set yet. very contained and within herself.

Any Predictions for todays match ups???

FOR THE WOMEN

Peng Vs Radwanska=
Makarova Vs Clijsters=
Kvitova Vs Pennetta=
Benesova Vs Zvonarava=

FOR THE MEN

Nadal Vs Cilic=
Raoncic Vs Ferrer=
Soderling Vs Dolgopolov=
Melzer Vs Murray=

i won't do score-lines because i am not very good that but i do think it will be clijsters(though maybe a tight one if makarova plays like she has been),kvitova and zvonareva. radwanska and peng,i'm not sure about. peng had a tough match in the previous round and she looked like she was struggling physically at the end but radwanska hasn't exactly been 100% either,so it could be a close one.

Did not see the Dolgopolov win over Soderling coming. Well done to him to make it to the quarterfinals on his debut at the Aus. open.

Looking forward to Li Na winning the title^_^
Although I'm not too impressed with the way she plays sometimes. She always feeds the ball back to her opponent! It's so frustrating.

Did not see the Dolgopolov win over Soderling coming. Well done to him to make it to the quarterfinals on his debut at the Aus. open.

I was so excited for him. I really enjoyed watching him play because of how calm and smooth he was out there. Hope he beats Murray (I HATE MURRAY).
