Was it that bad? I was super excited for Lexie's return. Maybe its a good thing then that I can't find a link to watch it then.

Oh I'm so excited for next week!! Finally getting to the good stuff, The Originals. If there's one thing the people of TVD know how to do, its the flashback episodes. Some of the best episodes of TVD have been the flashback episodes.

It was horribly disjointed. A pure fanservice episode. The only good things were 1. No Delena (shocking, I know!) 2. Damon getting tortured by Mason as payback 3. Anna being reunited with Pearl

Last night seemed like a filler episode, but it hit some good emotional points. I thought Taylor Kinney looked really bloated! His eyes were straining, like they were going to pop out.

^It was pure fanservice which is why they had a million plots running that had no connection to each other and wasn't properly developed! A bloody mess. I hate it when a show just pulls some crap out of their @ss and don't bother connecting the plots. It was so pointless! Aside from Anna and Bonnie getting some peace, they brought back Lexi to show us the eternal love between Stelena? Seriously? Haven't we been hit over the head with that like a million times already? They bring back the freaking tomb vampires because? I have no freaking idea. And then, because they hilariously had to stop using Bonnie as the witchy, witchy magic solution to every problem, they bring back Mason to tell them about the Originals. How convenient! And of course, he never ever shared any of this with Katherine!

The characters that came off as the worst was Elena and Jeremy. They find out they can see did people, so of course they see people who has to do with/is their boy/girlfriend! Neither even spared John, Jenna a thought, nevertheless their own parents who died prematurely. God, I could not stand either Gilberts in this episode!

Also, Alaric losing his balls again so soon after finding them - so not amusing. Alaric is so much Damon's b*tch!

Well the episode did something right, it's the highest viewed episode thus far. I'm about to load it up now but I saw something on Tumblr regarding Elena and Stefan and Elena saying something about not loving a ghost, I literally rolled my eyes. I don't understand why the producers and writers of the show have us somewhat fearful of what an Original Vampire can do but the characters on the show don't have the same fear of them.

I'm excited for next week because this is what I've been waiting for since last season. We finally get something on the Originals.

^^Hmm, I don't think the ratings have anything to do with the quality of the episode as much as promos and the previous one.

Elena saying those things was ridiculously hypocritical.

I know bb, I know! It's all I've been waiting for the entire season 3, so they better not let me down!

I agree. The winter hiatus is always terrible, but I do prefer it when it's one long continuous break over small breaks in between episodes. Those are the worst!

I do hope the writers realize that they are in rocky waters with Elena at the moment, she is on the edge of Bella/Sookie. I don't love it.

The only way I can see the writers redeeming Elena is if she lets Stefan go and doesn't get with Damon either and actually gets it through her head that she's reckless and is selfish as well. Not selfish in a bratty way, but she doesn't seem to care for her friends and family the way she cares for the Salvatore brothers.

The episode was ok, it was definitely a filler episode. Would have liked to see more of Lexie but oh well I guess. Regarding the ghosts thing advo, it's like Anna said; some find peace and some don't. I can only assume that Jenna, John and the Gilbert parents have found peace.

I don't get the evolution of Alaric, its like the guy takes 2 steps forward 5 steps back. Is he protecting Elena and Jeremy and being somewhat of a parent or is he being Damon's little b*tch? Cos I don't mind the bromance of Damon and Alaric but not so that it's always Alaric giving and Damon taking.

Yes, but I thought the whole "found peace" thing was ridiculous. If Anna and Pearl were in limbo because they hadn't been reunited, why wouldn't the Gilberts be too for not being able to say goodbye to their children? It was a half-@rsed effort at a ghost story that could have been so much more if they had been selective (instead of doing a bunch of shallow mini-stories) and chosen to flesh it out into something meaningful. Like shedding some light on the relationship between Elena/Jeremy and their parents. Failing that, because they wouldn't want to introduce completely new characters, then they should have made use of Jenna and John.

It's sad that a guest star like Anna is shown to care about her mother, while the Gilberts' thoughts are always on their boy/girlfriend.

Edit: I really can't with Alaric. He's a grown up @ss man, yet he behaves like he's trying to fit it with the school's most popular girl and will stand for any kind of crappy behaviour! HE SNAPPED YOUR NECK! Can we pretend like it's actually a big deal for more than one episode?!!!

I noticed that all the ghosts were supernatural creatures before they died so I guess that's why their parents or John can't come back as ghosts
Or maybe the writers are stupid and don't give us the good stuff 'cause personally I'd love to see Mr and Mrs Gilbert

^Jenna was a "supernatural creature" when she died. They made a bunch of "rules" for why certain people came back but I thought it was crap. What's the difference between someone supernatural dying and a normal human?

If you had the balls to kill off certain characters because they had outlived their use, then don't bring them back. I think the problem is that they try so hard at making the show ~shocking~ so they kill off characters, but then regrets it/don't like the backlash.

Other times, they kill off characters to make a shocking twist - but don't have the nerve to really do it so they are bring them back in some lame way like Bonnie's 5 min fake death or Jeremy getting shot. The only recent faux!death that was done well, was Tyler's because you believed it would be between Tyler and Elena. But essentially, that was a cop-out or feels like one just because the fake-outs have been done so many times already.

For me none of the TVD characters is really dead since we saw most of the dead characters again and there is always a chance that we'll see the rest of them too some time later...I mean, how can someone be considered "dead" when they just keep coming back?

And if you think about it all of the TVD characters have been dead but they came back in life as vampires or as ghosts or because of magic or because of those rings they have...I honestly can't think of any of them who hasn't died at least once. And this shows how "uncreative" the writers are. Can't they find something else to write other than killing off the characters?

And I agree about fanservice; I hate it too because it's so expected. And I've heard that Julie Plec, the creator of TVD, doesn't like Delena but she just lets the writers add Delena scenes just to please the fans...tbh, I think that when TVD ends, Damon and Elena will end up together, even though in the books Elena stayed with Stefan in the end, but the writers won't want to dissapoint the fans of the TV series.

^LOL, so true about everyone having died. Matt's death was also stupid (though at least not supernatural) because why would you ************* instead of just replying to the text .

I'm not sure Julie is against Delena. I know she loves Damon. Actually, she loves all the guys. She's like the biggest fangirl! I firmly believe that its her love for Matt that has kept him alive so long. But the problem with Delena IS how forced they have become.
