congrats ILaughead:flower: .

I am sad to see that you did not incorporate more colour, pattern, or texture into the dress. I looked up Arabian clothing, and it has so much texture and life to it, and this dress is rather plain compared to that.[/QUOTE]
well, Arabian clothes are simplein the desert & complicated in the urban cities.
well you can check the Touareg who are nomads lives in the Sahara, thier men costume is simple & famous for its cobalt blue massive turban & caftan.. so I thought about turning it into ' a red carpet evening gown' ....I thought that the complexion of the turban waves on the shoulders would be more than enough for now days..
that explain the simplicity of my dress..:innocent:

Well, thanks for the explanation Taz, but I'm only able to judge on what I know beforehand.

No hard feelings between anyone, I hope?

ilaughead, I think everyone is the past waited until the next day too. I'm not really sure though........
Whatever you do is fine! :P

Okay, the next challenge is inspired by music. Create an ensemble inspired by any one song. In your submission, explain how the look and the song relate.

Have fun!

Oh, whoops, forgot a deadline! How about next Saturday (the twentieth)? I want to make sure people have enough time.

So...uh...is anyone going to play this time? I'm thinking I should extend the deadline?

Oh Gosh. I remembered like 2 days ago about this, and then I forgot again. It's a hard theme. I would extend the deadline. SORRY!!!

Work has been insane lately....so, I may or may not have time to get something done. :(
(darn these bosses who make me actually show up to get paid. What's up with that craziness?)

well, I may be able to dig up my pencils by then...(in the process of moving, so I'm not quite sure where they are.)
Sorry to be late!

^ No you didn't kill it.
It was barely alive to begin with. lol.

I'm working on my entry now. Sorry to have put it off so long.

Marvelous Things by Eisley
This song has a vintagy fairytale feeling to it, and I showed that
through the top, and the colors. The top would have a very rustic touch, and it would look very handmade.

I awoke the dawn
saw horses growing out the lawn
ah ah .....

I glimpsed a bat with butterfly wings
oh what marvelous things
ah ah....

Dark night...hold tight, and sleep tight
my baby
Morning light...shall burst bright
and keep us here safely

I followed a rabbit
through rows of mermaid entwined Shrubbery
Ah ah....
Oh what marvelous things but, they are, they are, they are
giving me the creeps

Dark night...hold tight, and sleep tight
my baby
Morning light...shall burst bright
and keep us here safely

Oh...lying in the sun
everyday feeling all of the magic in life
and the wonder.....

Dark night...hold tight, and sleep tight
my baby
Morning light...shall burst bright
and keep us here safely
morning light...shall burst bright
and keep us here safely
Ah ah.....

So I decided to use a song by the pianist William Joseph. The song is entitled 'Piano Fantasy', and it starts out with a big bang! It's the kind of song that make you sit up and take notice right away, which is why I decided to use the enormous, layered collar. The song then calms down a bit, playing smoothly and quickly, so the dress also smoothed down. It's completely white, except for the three black stripes which are there to keep interest, add variety, and to represent the musical staff.
And, of course, the end of the song is big and loud, so the bottem up the dress is larger than life!

I uploaded the song on YouSendIt...it'll be available for 7 days.

And here's my dress:
MusicInspired.jpg

here's mine... how funny we both went for a long gown!:p
mine is all black, ruffled and has volume in the front.
it's inspired by Volver a song by Estrella Morente that is part of Pedro Almodovar's movie Volver
it's a really spanish-folk, passioned, strong, touching song, but it's also somehow sensual, delicate, elegant... very flamenco
so here's what i say this song looks like (whithout making it look like penelope cruz when she "sings it" in the film.

Okay, I'm finally ready to judge. Really excellent, everyone!

dbear1000, the tone of your dress fits the song's tone really well (the thirty-second iTunes sample, at least) I love the detailing on the top; it looks very nature-inspired, as well as whimsical. The only problem is that the length of the skirt part looks a little awkward.

ibimus, before hearing the song, your dress seemed kind of bland. But once I heard the song, it came alive! It wasa mazing how the dress and the song work so well together that my eye traveled down the dress with the stripes as the song progressed. However, the dress almost seems to need the music to 'work'.

borjacapella, unfortunately, I couldn't find your song on iTunes. But I did look at the 50,000 songs called "Volver" or "Volver, Volver". Your dress completely fits with the spanish theme. Are the things on the hip ruffles? Whatever they are, they're lovely and in the real world would actually give an illusion of a more hour-glass figure. But gowns like this have been done before.

And the winner is borjacapella! I loved the details, and this dress is completely wearable. I could see any woman, from a celebrity at an award show to a older woman at an art mueseum party wear this gown.

^ thank you ilaughead!!
ruffles!! that's what they are! i'll try to upload the song to yousendit.com later today if you are interested, and i'll post the new challenge tonight too!
