With stints working at both Issey Miyake and Oswald Boateng in London under her belt, Therese Rawsthorne returned to Australia in 2003 with aspirations of setting up her own fashion lable. Two years later, Rawsthorne launched her debut fashion label, Youth World.
After three successful seasons designing under her Youth World label, Therese Rawsthorne re-branded her cult Sydney-based fashion brand under her own name. The change was due to a conflict of naming rights with a large US company, which would stop Therese from taking trading her label in the American market.
"As we are steadily increasing sales in the US market and starting to build a profile over there, it was a natural progression that I started designing under my own name," Rawsthorne says.
Now under a new name, Rawsthorne's design aesthetic of modern classics remains unchanged, with A/W 08 'Bows and Arrows' reaffirming the label's status as one of the most progressive and fresh to emerge in recent seasons.
