Charlie Sheen will reveal to the world that he's HIV positive.
Sources connected to NBC's "Today" tell TMZ ... Sheen will sit down with Matt Lauer on Tuesday morning to make the announcement.
NBC touted the interview in a press release as Sheen making a "revealing personal announcement."
A tabloid report came out Monday claiming Sheen's been keeping the diagnosis secret for years. You've gotta imagine he'll address that report tomorrow morning on "Today."

Wow.
If the rumors are true and he ****ed around knowing he was HIV positive, he's obviously despicable.
That being said, nobody, no matter how prominent, should have to be forced to 'disclose his HIV status' and 'reveal to the world' he's not healthy.
(I guess he's at least semi-forced by all the rumors.)

I agree. Regardless of what I think about the guy and the suspicions we might all have that he has been sleeping with people unaware of his Heath problems. I do not think anyone should be forced to disclose in public a medical condition. I know numerous people with HIV, it's something that has no impact whatsoever on everyday life, so unless you are getting intimate with someone it's frankly no ones business.

I think it was inevitable. After the Sony leaks and all the blind items, this was damage control imo.
Rumours are that he had unprotected sex knowing that he´s positive, without informing his partners. I wonder if women will press charges...? I don´t know about US but eg in Canada, this could be considered assault.

Well I can only say great timing because in a time of actual issues, nobody cares but if people are really blackmailing over this, then good thing he did it public I guess?

I know that transmitting diseases knowingly is a biiiiiig deal in California.. if he infected someone after being diagnosed and didn't inform them and that person can prove that, there may be consequences, but I'm sure he knows that and his lawyers most likely already covered that (isn't blackmailing a crime too?).

well didn't he buy a house in like a nice area for these people so they would keep silent? I don't know, and I don't even know why I know this! embarrassing.

It was reported today by Spiegel Online, a reliable German magazine. Don't know about any English source, but I'm sure there are some. Apparently he told TMZ that people were blackmailing him with his HIV status, namely a prostitute.

^and how did she know? did he inform her? he could press charges, blackmailing is indeed a crime.

This is from Reuters

Charlie Sheen, the wayward star of U.S. television comedy "Two and A Half Men," said on Tuesday he was diagnosed as HIV positive some four years ago and had been extorted for more than $10 million to keep the information quiet.

Sheen, 50, told NBC's "Today" TV show he was speaking out because he was being blackmailed, and to refute tabloid reports that he has AIDS and was spreading it to others.

"I have to put a stop to this onslaught, this barrage of attacks and of subtruths and very harmful and mercurial stories," he said.

"I am here to admit that I am in fact HIV positive," Sheen said, adding he was "not entirely sure" how he contracted the virus.

Sheen acknowledged he had paid "upwards of $10 million" in recent years to "desperate charlatans" for their silence about his condition.

The actor, who is three times divorced and has dated many p*rn stars, said it was "impossible" that he had transmitted the virus to anyone else. He said he "always led with condoms and honesty when it came to my condition."

But former p*rn star Bree Olson, one of the "goddesses" who lived with Sheen for a year four years ago, said on Tuesday he had never informed her of his HIV status.

"Never said anything. Ever. 'I'm clean,' he told me. 'I'm clean, I'm clean'," Olson told Howard Stern in a radio interview on Tuesday. Olson, who said she has since tested negative for HIV, made similar statements to entertainment TV show "Inside Edition."

Sheen's spokesman declined to comment when asked about Olson's remarks.

They don't mention the prostitute, Spiegel says that Sheen himself told TMZ about the prostitute. According to him she took pictures of his pills. (I would maybe hide my HIV treatment pills when seeing a prostitute, but oh well.)

If he didn't inform the p*rn star, then her solicitor could go after him for this. A few years ago in Germany there was this Idols/Popstar girl who transmitted the disease to innocent men while knowing very well that she had it, and the court found her guilty. I think some of the men even caught this virus. I'm not sure how easy it is to bring a charge of blackmailing against someone, especially once you've already bought them houses, and gave out 'hush money'.

^ I think we all agree that not transmitting the disease willingly (or maybe because you don't care) is a crime.
However, HIV has been around long enough for everybody to know that one should use a condom. Always and especially when sleeping with somebody who most probably has a very active sex life.
