Biography
Tony McGee is a photographer and filmmaker, renowned for his energy and devotion to his work. Living in Chelsea, London, he became a fashion photographer at the age of sixteen and by seventeen he had shot covers for Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. By the time he was twenty-one he had worked for most magazines around the world with more then forty covers to his credit as well as numerous advertising campaigns. He was later introduced to the world of rock and roll photography and worked with the likes of Roxy Music, David Bowie, George Michael and Tina Turner. At the age of twenty-five he directed his first television commercial, winning gold at the Cannes Lions International Advertising and Film Festival.
Following that success he went on to direct over two hundred and fifty commercials for television and cinema. McGee has worked constantly shooting for everyone from American Vogue to Elle to Rolling Stone Magazine and The Sunday Times. He has also worked on campaigns for L'Oreal, Nestle, Proctor and Gamble, Rolex, Nivea and Chanel.
Fine Art has become such a big part of his working life that he now spends at least one third of his schedule per year developing Fine Art image ideas. Tony is currently concentrating on Boxing, Ballet, Flowers and Swans.
McGee is dedicated to his charity work. Tony works passionately, raising tens of thousands of pounds annually. He contributed to the recent Raisa Gorbachev Foundation charity ball, an evening that raised a total of £1.7 million in one evening.
McGee is based in his beloved London, working as frantically as ever covering editorial and advertising assignments as well as working on his first feature film, "Call St Peter" which is currently in pre-production.
