Trend Forecast Fall Winter 07/08

whenever i think of mod, i think of star trek suits and that ysl dress color block..
which i feel is a big jump from what's going on now.

^ colour block is been actually forecasted for fw07.08

This is the discribtion of SS08 Womens Inspiration from WGSN.
That's all I got from my friends....Hope it helps!!!~:woot:

Equatorial:
Discover a new World of pared-down expression that promotes a neo-primitive Puritanism.
Be inspired by the freedom of the abstract. Natural science acts as a muse, as we look to the exotic and the importance of nature and human touch in creating captivatingly modern mutations that exude a Delphic uniqueness.

Warped:
Revel in a fantastical and ever-so-slightly insane dimension, as if in a dream.
Enter our strangely sublime Warped world, where we become the mixmasters, taking you on a mind-bending rollercoaster ride to explore the toxicity of beauty, providing mesmerizing retinal confections. Be inspired by and create a mishmash of art, film, music, fashion, magic and madness: come on if you dare:

Good Life:
Create an atmosphere of sheer enjoyment and pursue the pleasure principal to create the Good Life from coast to coast, with a joyous celebration of “newstalgia” ( the postmodern revival of past comforts).
Revel in the beneficial aspects of summer outdoors and relish the basic no-mod-cons surroundings, bringing a carefree freedom from modern-day living.

^ ss08 deserves its own thread

^ think the french Tati movies and early 60's
it's more about modernism & art shapes than about 'love generation'

Heeheh...look no further than moi, Zazie.:D ...a really obnoxious flick btw.

I think the French New Wave will always make a comeback every other few season or so...^_^ as you can tell, I'm a big fan. My faves are "Le Mepris", "L'annee Derniere a Marienbad" (incredibly surreal, slow, visually stunning and will haunt you for life...), "Pierrot le Fou", ..and I love Roger Vadim's "Barbarella" though it wasn't strictly French, or any good.:p

can we post more pictures from trend forecasts, i think it's exciting to look at.

French New wave, huh? So does this mean more slim black pants, striped shirts, androgynous hair with sideswept bangs or...am I thinking of something else...

i think the look is going to be more organic and natural..it's always easier to wear.
i definitely would not feel comfy in a star trek restricted look.

no, its more colour block, happy modernistic dressing.. somehow it could be labeled as 'naive futurism'

Can I ask a silly question? Do the trend forecasts that are out currently influence the styles in say, Australia? And if so, how far past the timeframe (ss08 for example) do other countries adopt these styles?

As you can see, I'm quite confused :)

I'm intrigued by the mixture of dark colours with the punk aspect.

I'm going to premiere vision in february - so i will post all the information i gather from it!

the trend forecasters, i feel are always way ahead on their predictions, i think it truly takes a couple of years sometimes to catch on. sounds like a long time, but if you think about it in fashion years, it's actually very fast...season wise.

^interesting that in terms of mass-market more 'commercial' fashion, it seems like the trends are much much slower
i mean the crafty and handmade and sometimes messy look is still in in the lower end shops here
where, for high fashion, it's already fairly passé

Marc Jacobs said in NYTimes that he was inspired by "L'annee Derniere a Marienbad" (Last Year at Marienbad). ...though I don't see any of it. I think I might be a clairvoyant...but unfortunately, for the wrong designers. :p

heheh...I wish...:p , because I write really mean things about his stuff, but honest criticism because I don't have to worry about his advertising budget. I do believe in synchronicity, a quasi-scientific concept that stems from the mystery of artificial crystals which have vexed physicists for years in their creation would simultaneously take form all at the same time in different labs all over the world. People from different places all over the world might pick up the same vibes without ever communicating, we're a small and one world. :)

But boy, if I were really clairvoyant, I'd much prefer guessing the lottery number!
