Ph. Joseph Cultice

If you haven't heard of him (you're missing out!), his music is an interesting mix of hip-hop, electronica, whatever you want to call it... if you like Portishead, Massive Attack, etc. you'll probably like his stuff. He has collaborated with the likes of Grace Jones, Björk, PJ Harvey, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Alison Goldfrapp. He's been going strong since the '90s and released a new album called, "Knowle West Boy".

maybe the fifth element?

i'm going to look it up :P

One of my top five favorites forever. Karma for starting the thread!

I actually haven't heard a lot from him, but love Evolution Revolution Love and the ft. Portishead Hell is around the corner. Truly great, he has a good voice.

I keep listening to "Past Mistake" off Knowle West Boy over and over. It's a great song.

He's also in that movie "Clean" with Maggie Cheung, playing himself though I don't recall that he sings in it. It's a good movie in general; I highly recommend it.

i adore him. his show here was postponed until the fall, it was supposed to be this week.

great new interview with him here

oh yeah,i too was a huge fan during the heights of the tricky era myself. my favourites of course is everything from "maxinquaye" especially pumpkin which featured a then, very unknown alison goldfrapp on vocals....and aftermath was another. martina topley-bird was such an intrinsic part of that album's mood too. love her! there was something very mood-driven almost cinematic about his music in those days. thereafter,he kind of lost his edge for me.....broken homes with PJ Harvey was really good but that was about it i think. i think after that proverbial "trip-hop" era fizzled the creative magic did for tricky as well. that said,i listened to his new album and i have to say it's probably his best work since "angels with dirty faces".....really great moment right now for that to happen as a lot of artists right now are trying to recapture some of the mellowed spirit of the late 90's and early 00's......
