tropical weather attire

helena, your choices are lovely.
I'm not much for prints, but I like this one--birds rather than flowers.

i wantd items that i would still wear once i came back to the city this summer..

love the shirt- it has pockets!!!

the floral shorts are from the sleepwear dept...:p
but i think they will be adorable with the shirt on the beach....etc...

couldn't resist the cover up!!!...so cute...

kisa- did you talk about riding?
i was thinking about doing that if there is time and availablity...
i've never ridden on the beach before...
can i ride with cropped cargoes?...what about shoes....?

If you're just going to be riding on the beach cropped cargoes should be fine, they're usually not picky about the shoes either. The beach riding isn't usually very intense so the problems that you're supposed to wear proper pants/boots for, like irritating your legs, your foot slipping in the stirrup, etc aren't really a problem. ^_^ When I went riding, I went on a long trip in the countryside, so I needed to have proper pants, (just jeans in this case) but they let me wear running shoes, and provided helmets etc. really depends on whether you want to go on an excursion, or just ride casually up and down the beach. :flower:

^^ softgrey - love the dress and the shorts/top combo. the shorts are quite cool surfy girl....but also a little bit jackie O in Capri.

^^ your anne valerie hache jacket is the same as mine but mine is grey. The dragonfly pin is great but i like the jacket better without....

great choices. makes me want to go to the carrib too

oh thanks kisa...
sounds good!...

helena...
that's an old pic ...
i wasn't thinking of wearing the pin down there actually..
(can't believe your jacket is the same one!~!!...cool!)
i hadn't realized it but you are very right about the jackie o thing...
guess that is just a reflex with me...
american/italian you know...
;)

do you hate the proenza dress?
i am still not convinced about it myself...:ermm:...
though it got the stamp of approval from my dad...
it's way better with the jkt and shoes toning it down...
i might never wear it after this trip though...
^_^

Really adorable choices, softgrey. I love the shiny red accessories with that first outfit.

I'm having a hard time picturing the AVH jacket over that dress though. Maybe I have a limited imagination.

oh nice stuff...looks like you got your holiday wardrobe there allready..
absolutely love the shirt w pockets and the shorts in post #24!

softgrey - cool re the pin.....so funny re the jacket - we must swap notes as to how we both wear it....LOL. I have tended to wear it with quite boyish clothesso as to offset the frills and ruffles.....baggy pants and ballet flats.

I like the PrSch dress, yes, in fact very bizarrely its very like the topshop one I referred to above^^^ uncanny infact! I wonder if the dress might look good with a more structured jacket like a blazer (but maybe thats too restrictive in the heat). I think the dress looks cool and beachy though and thats kind of the main thing in a hot place. Is Target not quite cheap....if so it doesn't really matter if you don't wear it that many times....?

You are lucky that you have nice colouring that works in a hot place - I end up looking like a big milk bottle.

^^..thanks!
big milk bottle?!?!?...

i actually have yet to wear the jkt...
i keep planning to and change my mind at the last minute...

thanks everyone!
this is helping me no end!!
i was really bewildered...

*laika...the jacket is good because it is cropped and boxy...
and it goes with everything i am bringing..:p
it also dresses up some of my more casual items...
i'm also bringing a white terry zip hoodie to throw on for day if it gets cool...
and black terry short shorts for the beach...

helena...that is my feeling about a blazer...i'd prefer something looser and less restrictive as you mentioned...but i could try that once i am back in the city i guess..
and yep- target is super cheap..the dress is $35...so i figure it is just perfect even if i don't wear it much!!...
:D

i would love a short tunic to wear as a cover up/dress also...
but i cannot find a cute one that i like...
i thought i found something but i tried it on again and it's the potato sack syndrome all over again...:ninja:...

trying to put together an outfit with cropped pants as an alternative if it's a bit cooler...:ermm:...

i'm bringing 3 swimsuits i think..
2 blk bikinis...
1 blue/wht prt (almost identical to the little shorts) with bamboo rings

footwear is an issue

i am sure you did not take all those photographs yourself...
so if you could please post accurate sources...
otherwise we will have to delete....
thanks
:flower:

until then i will merge this with the thread i started about tropical attire...

for a tropical vacation, i would suggest bringing at least 5 separate pieces (easier to maximize) and one or two key dresses (for that special occasion) i like to keep my top fussy and interesting, and the shorts very simple, and tailored. i made an exception with the last pair with the leaf print becos the color was just irresistable. and the longer coverage means i could wear lower heels.
i think city shorts paired with floral "summery",floaty tops are great if u are undecided about losing the tailored look.

yeh i didn't take it but i made it, anyways, it's all from google.
dear- that is not a valid source...
you MUST provide the original sources for all images posted at tFS
see cavanugh's post for an example..;)

thanks :flower:

cavanaugh- that is a cute collage...
it's halfway what i am bringing....:p
but i cannot do khaki...my coloring is like mary's...
so that is why i was veering towards black

mary---you manage to make black look so summery....!!
those grey shorts are so awesome...

i have some grey linen shorts...perhaps it would be good to bring those...
...

i guess my struggle is with the more casual beachy looks...
i really love all these looks
http://pressroom.target.com/pr/news/fashion/go-international/album.aspx?id=4504
if only they were available now...:(
i am going to have to try to copy them somehow....

i have cropped grey isabel marant pants...and an ivory marni top that ties in the front...
that's one look...:innocent:...

* i was hoping for something more from American Apparel...
all the dresses are boring or ugly...
will have to check further for a possible tunic/cover up...
