sounds cute..Trovata: A little midweek levity came courtesy of Trovata's Jeff Halmos, John Whitledge, Sam Shipley and Josia Lamberto-Egan. Their premise: a murder-at-the-ski-lodge satire — the victim is done in with a fondue fork — complete with a booklet detailing the fiction, a fake snow-lined runway and yodelers to preface the show. What followed, though, was no joke. As whimsical as the quartet's delivery was, the designers backed it up with very real clothes that should keep them high atop retailers' "yes" pile. Fresh off their CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund win, they built on their specialty of all-American fare — sailor pants with mismatched buttons; a navy herringbone toggle coat featuring fat white piping — often served with a wink-wink, as in an adorable Fair Isle vest with reindeer intarsia. The collegiate-cool lineup was too brief, though, leaving some longing for more. As for who done it: the rich, beautiful socialite twins — yet another wink from the mischievous, delightful Trovata gang.
