Flicking through this online, Alice Wignall is now acting as editor, after Farrah Storr's departure.
I loved UK Elle years ago, but these days, when each issue appears, I'm very dismissive of the magazine. UK Vogue and Bazaar seem to be weathering the current climate far better than Elle, which feels diminished and lost. But when I bother to read through an issue, there's usually one editorial that contains good images, and I find myself getting engrossed in the short articles.
This March issue is 182 pages. It hasn't managed to attract the same amount of high-end advertising that UK Bazaar has (and I expect UK Vogue to do even better) but the contents give me the feeling that UK Elle could recover. It feels more like its old self. There's a sense of vigour returning to the pages.
The cover story doesn't even seem so weird when seen in conjunction with the rest of the content.
