Yup. I think this is the final nail in my Elle UK coffin. I've been meaning to unsubscribe for ages and never getting round to it. Rita and indeed this cover makes me know it has to be done. Elle had a really great phase a few years back, I miss those days. Now it's a bit like that annoying person, hanging around, trying to be 'cool'.

Gorgeous!
I know everyone will say that she shouldn't be on the cover, but I definitely think she deserves to be on the cover of a British magazine. She is one of the biggest female artists in the UK at the moment. Her first three singles all hit #1 as well as her platinum selling debut album. She has just premiered her new single and has done a lot of things in fashion. DKNY campaign, a deal with Adidas and Rimmel London, one of the faces of the new M&S campaign.
And like her style or not, she is seen as a style icon.

Are they serious with this for the cover? Just stupid, if i wanted topless women, i would buy GQ!!

If the masthesd wasnt pink, i could easily mistaken this to gq or esquire

Join the club. I haven't received an issue since Kate Hudson was on the cover and I have not regretted canceling my subscription. I thought I'd miss the magazine after reading it since 2004 but evidentially not. Now I'm contemplating what to do with my massive stack of Elle's. They did have some strong issues in the past.

Miss Dalloway, GQ with Miranda by Mario Testino actually looks like the better read this month. At least from the cover it does.

Not sure what to think of it, cause it's not that bad, but it's too cheap/ordinary. It's would suit InStyle more - they'd know how to make it more appealing. The worst thing about this is the tattoo.

I really dont understand why she is so well-known now... she is boring

As one of the UK’s most in-demand talents, Rita – as shot by Thomas Whiteside – creates a bold statement (what else?) for our May issue.

On the newsstand cover she wears a Dior skirt with a Cartier bracelet. But it’s her tattoo, ‘Rosetta’, that takes centre stage.

‘It’s based on an original piece by Alberto Vargas, who was an incredible illustrator in the 1930s. He was one of the creators of the pin-up image. That’s our build, our power,’ she explains.

‘That’s why I was obsessed with it; learning what men don’t understand about women and what women don’t understand about men. I was obsessed with the painting a long time ago, and then I got it done six months ago.

‘I just love pretty things, whether it is art, a song or a pair of shoes.’

Ever one to push the boundaries, Rita also stars in a video first for a UK magazine – wearing Google Glass to effectively shoot her own behind-the-cover video.

She's trying so hard to be relevant and popular that it's actually quite painful and pitiful to witness.

The difference between Rita and someone like Rihanna is that, despite being over exposed too, Rihanna at least has her music career to validate her fame. Rita's music, a lot like everything else about her, is mediocre and dull!

NEXT!!

What an awful editorial? I've never got her appeal. To me it just feels like people are determined to make her happen, despite the fact the public generally couldn't give two hoots.

truly awful

ever since this magazine got a redesign i haven't bought it and it's for reasons like this

^ Thanks for posting, I still stick by my words although I have to admit to sort of liking the subscriber cover but it's the pose that sort of ruins it. Rita or whoever is styling her never seem to get it quite right. She was wearing Moschino in some recent pics I've seen and hideous about sums it up. One thing I do admire about her though is that she seems to have time for her fans.

I don't really know anything about Rita Ora's work or personal life, so I can't judge on that. But as for the magazine cover itself, on one hand it's kinda interesting to see a tattoo feature heavily on a fashion magazine such as Elle. On the other hand, the image looks a bit like it could come from a lad mag. Not really sure I agree with the direction Elle went in for this cover, it doesn't totally fit in with their image.
