Oh this is so exciting... seeing a athlete on the cover of a fashion magazine! When does that ever happen? It's is a bit text heavy but I'm going to give Marie Claire a pass because I'm just thrilled to see a sports star on the cover. Plus, it makes me even more excited for the Olympics!
I applaud their decision to put a vibrant and beautiful woman like Jessica Ennis on the cover, she's achieved a lot in her career so far, and with more success to come, I hope.
I like that they went with an athlete such as Jessica and I do applaud her being used, but I sort of feel a bit let down that they made her appear as an athlete on the cover and she wasn't treated like a model or actress or any other celebrity would be. They have her a generic sportswoman cover which I find a bit of a shame personally. I'd like to have seen her be given a fashion editorial.
^That's probably very true. I personally didn't know who she was before I saw the cover/read the article but I'm not British (that's my excuse with this one ). However, I do expect to read/see more of her and the other athletes in the coming months. I look forward to learning more about the different athletes competing in the Olympics. Also, while I think it would be nice to see an athlete grace a magazine dressed in a gown or something having them wear athletic clothing is such a change from the normal magazine covers. So thus, this issue will standout from the other magazines on the shelf.
Yeah, it would be lovely to see her wearing something else. But then they would probably located shoot in track and field arena and she throwing javelin or something (wearing gown). We have seen that too.
