Thank you. I have not seen it. "The Sights" fashion editorial seems promising. What do you think of the issue?

In one word: garbage. The issue is incredibly weak and uneventful. Every page feels lifeless, sterile, and completely devoid of energy. British Vogue is just so soulless nowadays, it's such a crying shame.

Oh no. I had hope for the Bruno Staub story. I do like Staub and Phelan. Thank you!

Vogue is just going all in on running themselves into the ground.

its ok, but she does not have do x factor, its very bland, she does not shine... never ever...

Officially released today, no print subscription copy yet, but looking through the digital edition, seems to be 200 pages. Inside front cover campaign is Chanel, but after that it's mostly adverts for jewellery, watches, perfume, cars.

That bucket hat editorial turns up again in this issue, I could have sworn it was also in the previous one, but all these Vogue reprints start to blend together. There's also a special Weddings section.

In the main editorial section, I don't mind Dua Lipa as an artist, but I've no interest in her style or what she wears. PEAK SEASON with Binx is basically a UK Bazaar editorial but in Vogue, LIFE AFTER LOVE is a series of portrait shots of people more than it is a fashion editorial, then there's MAESTRO & ME, which is a feature with Jamie Lloyd and Rachel Zegler.

THE SIGHTS is a fashion editorial, but it suffers from some of the images being made small on the page with a massive white border around them, probably to add more visual interest to a fairly flat story.

Back page is What Would Conner Ives Do?

I never expect much from summer issues, because proper fashion only starts up again with the arrival of the autumn-winter season. A summer issue that's 200 pages is probably an achievement in the current climate, and there's certainly a lot more content here than you'd see in US magazines, I feel. Also, any editorial that gets people out of the studio is generally a good thing.

What I would like to see in Vogue, when the wind changes and the new season ad campaigns start showing up - is more elevated content. I don't want Vogue to be relatable. I want it to be something that takes me out of myself and makes me dream.

The full cover layout is laughable. Go, Chioma, give us nothing!

I do like the fashion editorials inside this issue. "Peak Season," "The Sights" and "The Catch" are quite lovely.

The editorials are not offensively bad.. but how do I explain it.. it's like there is no soul behind these editorials.. it doesn't spark anything when you look at it

a "wasted opportunity issue"

Chioma's strongest issue to date for me.

The coverstory is absolutely gorgeous— giving a generous inspirational nod to Betty Page and her shoots; from color-palette to the mini bangs, Dua pulls it off effortlessly. That she’s worked hard for her hard body (that a55….) also helps elevate the pinup girl of Betty’s signature to 1950s beefcake rag is sort of another layer of wit and creative freshness, and not just a mere homage. Then along comes Malick’s shoot with Binx— and Binx either has the great foresight to know what a superior on-location shoot it’ll turn out, or she always has the great fortune of being cast in strong outdoor shoots, but either way, another gorgeous story that pairs model and location so gorgeously well.

Not sure if Chioma’s finally making an effort— or she just lucked out this time and stumbled into a solid issue, but I hope the momentum ebbs and flow into the next issue, and another issue, because this is really good— and not just good enough. Very rare for Vogue these days. And nice layout to boot.

Absolutely agree with you regarding the content that you posted. Thank you for posting the layouts as they appear in the actual magazine. I love it as well.

I don't understand the viewpoint or story behind the Dua Lipa editorial. It seems like an odd mixture of themes...? A couple of the photos are strong at least.

Hate the bangs, but Dua's edit is nice, same goes for Binx's one too. Thanks @Phuel for posting the layouts, they actually help elevate the editorials massively!

I'm just confused by the editorial through-line here. They all kind of belong in different monthly issues. I can see "Star Power" and "Life After Love" working in one, "Peak Season" feels out of sort here, and "The Sight" and "The Catch" belong together in a different issue. Nice to see this many edits in a Vogue and not all just 4 page spreads, but there's no relationship here at all.

Obviously something’s going so bad when all they get is Dan Jackson and Tabitha Simmons, and David Sims with Camilla Nickerson. Two teams that are always associated with mediocrity and very much needed change on the horizon.
