I've tried everything I can think of:

Pimple creams: gets rid of the nasty ones but doesn't unblock
Exfoliants: large grains are useless unless used on the rest of the body
microdermabrasion: smooths my skin down but doesn't unblock
Steaming my face: hasn't worked as yet, I steam twice a week
Toners: No success as yet, i've used alcohol based and clay based, tea based, witch hazel based, tea tree based....

Can somebody give me a hint here? :( I have no acne, but I'm so fed up of this bumpy complexion.

Cheers in advance.

^ have you tried pro-activ? I have to say its the best for me. The only time I break out is when Im on my period. I use the cleanser on damp skin and then the toner then a mild exfoiliating peel. It def. works for me. My skin is smooth and when I put powder foundation on it glides on my skin smoothly. My nose is always bumpy and I feel like I need to scratch the bumpy pores out but that just makes it bigger...this stuff works for that. You should def. give Pro-activ a shot if you havent tried it yet.

I used it about 2 years ago for a few months - it was good for zit zapping but dried my face out so severely, i had these raw red patches, it was horrible. I still have some of the treatment cream.. I wonder would that work on its own without the cleanser/toner combo?

Maybe you could try going easy on your skin for a while, it could be congested because youre using products which may be too harsh on your skin and going back to a simple skincare routine, just cleansing, toning and moisturising without stripping your skin. it may help to get a facial to extract clear up congestion if you have any blackheads etc and if you really want to you could go and see a dermatologist because they will give you the best advice suited for your skin.^_^ o yeah and ive heard that paulas choice bha lotion really helps clear congested skin http://www.paulaschoice.com.au/shop/product.asp?CODE=PC205&PAGETYPE=S and of course drink heaps of water that def helps!

I agree with the above post, but I think that seeing an Esthetician would be fine since you obviously don't have grade 3-4 acne. In my opinion, you need to use a professional product line for your skin type first, which must include a toner and moisturizer, as well as cleanser. The toner will not work right away to help get rid of bumps, in fact, the purpose of a toner is to bring the ph of your skin back up to normal after you cleanse it, which helps keep the barrier function of your skin strong, which in turn aids in keeping your skin clear. So, go see an esthetician and get on a product line that is specifically for your skin type, then you can substitute a glycolic, salysilic or lactic wash a few times a week to help with bumps if you need to. Most likely, they are milia that are formed because of the comedgenicity of your make-up or product you are using to wash your face......ok, i will get off my soap box...lol.

Excellent advice! Thank you all. I've started using Biotherm Biopur and it seems to be bringing all the impurities in my skin to the surface to clear out. But yeah, I will definately look into the glycolic washes, and perhaps give my poor skin a break too! :) Once again, thanks.

beat egg whites, by themselves, put it on your face like a mask 20 minutes, great for clear skin, getting rid of acne, unclogging pores, etc etc. I usually put honey on my face for 20 minutes too, afterwards, to avoid it getting oily since the egg whites practically take all hte moisture out. My mom's advice, and it works really well :flower:

^That sounds like a really bad idea. I don't ever wanna put salmonella in my face

yeah you might be irritating your skin with all of those products. go to a dermatologist and see what they have to say!

I used to do this when I was younger, but I also added lemon juice (to act as an astringent) I got the idea from a beauty magazine.

i suggest a home-made mini steam before washing your face from now on.
just boil a pot of water. stick your face above it (not too close of course. haha) for a good 5 minutes. what it does is it opens up your pores. so your cleanser / mask can really get in there to do its job.

a good cleanser i'd recommand is LANCOME's MOUSSE CLEANSER. great product.

also, our diet sometimes contributes to our big pores. less meat (esp red meat), more veggies and protein. (less dairy too)
